What are the differences between these two machines?

I spend $200+ dollars a month on stringing. It just isn't worth going on like this anymore. The Gamma X-ELS and Gamma Progression II ELS are two portable electronic stringers sold on TW and I honestly can't tell the difference between them besides the color. These are my top picks due to the portability. Can anyone explain what the differences between them are?

For the amount you a budgeting, have you considered the cheapest Stringway with flying clamps [not fixed clamps and no concord mounting]? Or a used Neos from Tennis Machines?

The local college has one of those Gamma ELS's and that thing gets constant use and I have not know it to fail no matter how many different hands use it.

Have had two of the progression machines, still have one. No problems, used them for several tournaments.

Rotational grippers aren't sexy, but their simple motor design does make them more or less bullet proof, in addition to keeping overall size relatively compact.

I bought the Gamma X-ELS and love it. I've done about one racquet a week for three years and haven't had any trouble.

Not sexy, inconvenient, and "cost" you an extra wasted feet of string.
And I don't know how accurate the tension-measuring is.

Give it a rest, fanboy. Everyone has different wants and needs -- objective information is helpful, your nonsense is not. These forums really need a negative rep option for buttheads like you.

Apparently it is "not done" to question the accuracy of this machine :).
I would think that apart from the quality of the string-table and the (fixed) clamps the consistency of the tensionmechanism is "key".

The difference is only the base. Same turn table, same tensioner, same clamps. The red machine has a large tool tray, and all the red case is a hard plastic with a cast iron frame. The blue machine has a smaller tool tray but has a tool drawer and is made of aluminum. Both are good machines. Per above, I have never noticed any overshoot on mine. Tends to pull under set tension by a couple of tenths. Both of the Progressions I had were the same. The constant pull would stay within a few tenths either side of set tension, but more often than not was under a couple of tenths. I have tested my Baiardo, a Star 5, a few Sensors, a couple of other Gammas, Alpha Ghost 2, and a Prince 6000. All fluctuate a little during constant pull. Baiardo and Babolats moved the least at about a tenth either way, but the Gammas were in the same range as the Alpha and Prince. Just my experience, others may vary.

but you claimed to "not know", so why are you chiming in? You baffle us all, trust me.

for example.....Herb, in the above post, actually has experience with these machines.
Your input is useless (as usual).

I should have used different wording, I agree. Don't think it is "useless" to discuss tension-accuracy/consistency of machines.

The "useless" comes in when you nitpick ad nauseum every last detail and argue totally insignificant points to the nth degree. I mean if you did it once, nobody would mind, but you do it with each and every thread/post. And truthfully, if it was just one person who had noticed and had a problem with it, I would overlook it too. But when everyone basically wants to scream STFU, then maybe it's time to consider it's you.

Truth.
Very well put.

First of all, it's you and your "gang" who are oversensitive.
Second: we have a moderator to "censor" postings; so please keep quiet
