OTS (Over the Shoulder)?
Love it!Ilie Nastase was doing that in the '70's. Bud Collins dubbed it the 'Bucharest Backfire'.
yep been around a while...andre's was a great one.Ilie Nastase was doing that in the '70's. Bud Collins dubbed it the 'Bucharest Backfire'.
The Andre. He famously tagged corretja in the chest with one.
I was referring to a shot of same type but much faster velocity from a 1998 match that tagged the surprised Corretja in the chest. No he passed Corretja.
If you get hit in he chest with that shot, you had it coming.I was referring to a shot of same type but much faster velocity from a 1998 match that tagged the surprised Corretja in the chest.
Agassi apologized. Corretja was a bit annoyed. In post match interviews Andre said that aiming hard over the middle low part of the net was “his only shot.”
In my cursory search for footage, I found written mention of the shot in a 2000 atp finals preview, but didn’t find the clip yet.
I remember that, its at 54 min mark.I was referring to a shot of same type but much faster velocity from a 1998 match that tagged the surprised Corretja in the chest.

Modern Pros should learn from this and use the practice time spent on low-probability tweeners to get better at the run-down-and-smash.That's abit different. He wasn't running, but instead fully set up for a baseline overhead. Nice rip.
to be fair, that wasn't a topspin lob he was running down. he hit it from the baseline.Modern Pros should learn from this and use the practice time spent on low-probability tweeners to get better at the run-down-and-smash.
That's a regular overhead, not a 'Backfire'.
