I got the new Evanescence album, I love their music.

I also listen to lots of trance, mainly 'A State of Trance' with Armin Van Buuren DJ-ing every Thursday. I love it!!

I'm pretty much bouncing between James Blunt, Evanescence, and Lifehouse at the moment - but due to the season, I've been boppin' to Nana Mouskouri and Boney M. :)

whoooa thats exactly what im into too. have you listened to the one where teh "tune of the week" was that low based ferry corsten tune? i think that was my favorite ever. cant remember which week it was, maybe 240 something, cant remember.

also liked gnarls barkeley before it started being played on the radio 24/7.

Oh yeah I love catching the DJ's when they come to town. Wish I lived in Austin because it seems they come there moreso than Houston. I'm gonna try and catch oakenfold this Tuesday. He's not the same anymore but hell any time a DJ comes to Houston I try to catch them since it's takes forever for one to come.

Trance is good! Dave Ralph's Tranceport II/Departures is playing in my room at the moment. I guess I'm into classics...:-)

Armin's selection of TOTW is pretty much always awesome.

Also listening to 'Above and Beyond - Trance Around the World' and Markus Schulz's show.

Actually, if you're talking about big trance DJs like Armin and PVD and Tiesto etc etc, they visit houston A LOT more than Austin. I've only seen PVD once here, none of the rest.

But if you like hip hop and rap DJs, then you could be right. I don't know, I don't follow them.

Yeah I guess you're right about the bigger name DJ's. I've seen AVB 3 times oakenfold 5 times and Ferry Corsten just once. Didn't get to enjoy his set though because the sound system at the club went out and my buddy called it an early night. And in early night I mean she was drunk 10 minutes into his set and babysitting time started.

coheed and cambria, sugarcult, all-american rejects, rise against :D

at the moment im listening to nickelback

Anyone heard of Sigur Ros? Crazy music, pretty good. I'm listening to a bit of them and Jose Gonzalez.

You have to be in a certain type of mood to listen to them but yeh they are pretty good. Sæglópur is definitley my favourite .. Hoppípolla is good but it's everywhere these days. The novely kind of wore off.

Listening to Apparat Organ Quartet . I saw them perform at this year's Iceland Airwaves. Hanged out with a couple of Icelanders in the Reykjavik Art Museum and a band member of Sigur Ros was there watching the show. I do like Sigur Ros especially Takk.

Sugarcult, H.I.M. and Notis Sfiakianakis (sp? Νότης Σφακιανάκης) atm

If you haven't listened to Sugarcults latest album, Lights Out, I recommend giving it a shot.

I think I'm "out of it"...I haven't heard of-let alone HEARD-a single group listed on the two pages so far.

As a birthday present, someone gave me the six-CD set of the complete Miles Davis-John Coltrane recordings,1955-'61, and various extras, like jam sessions and outtakes. I haven't taken that off the CD player since early August. I just can't think of anything to put on that's better. Aside from that, I listen to some radio.

I think Miles Davis is very cool - not too familiar with Coltrane though. If you get a chance try James Blunt out - he's very mellow and chill; his music really gets in your head. :)

Those who said Blink 182 I agree they're great. :) I really enjoy the older Hip, Soul Asylum and Pearl Jam.

I've heard James Blunt and yeah, he's pretty good. If HE gets into your head, then you probably need to listen to some Coltrane. You may never think of music the same way again...really. To me, Coltrane is the closest I've come to a religous experience...in a musical sense, of course...

You ARE out of it, but try to stay involved in your nursing home community, and eventually you might make friends and develop a taste for post-50's music.

Given that, in Sodumb's world, if one likes Mozart, he's an old foggie....typical comment from someone who wouldn't know good music if it bit him on the ass. But, your attempt at humor cum disparagement is noted.

Try some exercise to lighten up your spirits. Try walking down the hallway and back without your wheelchair, and post about your experience soon, like before Christmas.

SoBad, can we all flame you now for your unnecessary insults? I suppose I'm a foggie as well since I love classical music and enjoy classic rock.

CC, my suggestion re: collective flaming was really related to the WTC discussion. In any case, I didn't call phil names, just tried to help him. He called me names though, so please feel free to flame him.

SoBad, just pointing this out - I don't think flaming is cool in any situation. I would prefer to buy the world a coke, but with all the pepsi lovers out there, what's the point? LOL

I don't know...it was just a question thread about music-what are you listening to now...didn't seem to me like there were any opportunities to flame-some people have poor taste in music, but that's their business...but as I said before, you're not so bright or witty...If you're not getting your butt kicked in enough in the other, more combative threads and you do feel the need to follow me around these boards, please try to at least infuse some WIT into the discussion...if you can do that, or, find yourself a hobby.

You're not out of it, you just have great taste. I love Coltrane (and Hartman/Coltrane), Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Arturo Sandoval, Clifford Brown and some Charlie Parker stuff is good too.

As for music of today, I am listening to the new Justin Timberlake album (before you judge, listen to it. It's musically advanced, varied and offers a great blend of pop, hip/hop (beats), funk, fusion and some jazz. Top it off with Timberlake writing all of his own music and it's a great album), and the new offering from My Chemical Romance. I was never a fan of their music before, but this new concept album (up there with Green Day's "American Idiot) is really a great musical advance for the Alternative Rock community.

I also have Sirius satellite radio in my car, so I can hear whatever, whenever.

A summary,,,,,
OK, have and idea, from now on, let us only address ISSUES and not call anyone names. Let us also agree that if an occasional troll pops in calling names, we will COLLECTIVELY FLAME THEM TO DEATH in order to maintain integrity of the discussion of issues. What do you all think?
