What are your expectations for Casper Ruud during the clay season ?

It seems that some posters are rejoicing at the idea of epic future encounters between Alcaraz and Djokodal on clay, but what about the last finalist of the prestigious tournament known as Roland Garros ? If you want him to have a very disappointing season because you think he embodies the current weak era, this doesn't count. However I must confess I predict he will have a disappointing clay season, lot of players will figure his game out. Please be polite and don't be ruud.

He’ll do well. But I don’t think he’s going to beat Djokodal or Raz. However, I am intrigued to see him play Rune, Sinner, Tsitsipas, Zverev, Korda. Even matches imo.

Casper seems to be fighting some mental issues right now.
Talent is there & he's great on clay.

I expect him to improve enormously his golf swing, he is gonna have a lot of time off court

Forehand looks abbreviated right now and he’s not hitting it like he was last year. So it’s hard to say. He’ll make a couple runs though

He will only lose to the best, no?

He has looked tired, slow and sloppy since WTF and I wonder if he caught a viru$ in South America with Rafa.

A few QF appearances and that's it. Possibly a 250 title somewhere.

I don't think he qualifies for WTF this year unless his overall form improves drastically.

Last season he played above his normal level. I don't expect that to continue with the limitations of his game and lack of killer instinct. He's way too nice and eager to be a doormat for players that he admires. The fact that this clown was a match away from becoming number 1 is a black mark on the sport.

Some say there are no signs of weakness in this era... Quite amusing.

I agree Ruud over performed and had soft draws at RG and USO. He had SP to go up 2-1 against Alcaraz in the USO final. He played very well in that match, which some just couldn't acknowledge because he is the clay 250 vulture :)

He looks bad still in the practice vid with Thiem in Miami that Tennis TV uploaded - I wouldn't be surprised if its long covid complications or something like that, but yeah, no penetration on the shots at all even at court level view. I could see 2022 being a Magnus Norman in 2000 kinda year for him that he doesn't repeat (though currently he doesn't seem as prone to serious injury/health issues as Magnus was)

He can win masters somewhere if he gets back in form. He literally beat Cilic in RG semis. So hopefully he is nowhere near a slam final anytime soon.

Ruud is a tough one to figure out. He's been terrible since Seoul of last year. He's 9-11 since then, which includes a 5-6 record vs players ranked outside the top 50.

Hopefully, he finds his mojo on clay. I like this kid. He's got class. Granted, he lacks the top gear to be an ATG, IMHO. But I like him anyway.

That being said, unless he turns things around drastically, I see him maybe making a few semis at masters evens, but losing in the first week at the FO.

I expect him to do well against the players he's generally supposed to beat.

Then go out meekly against any of the big boys.

He's the new Ferrer.
