What are your hot takes

Do you have some hot takes?
Here is mine.
some Nadal Djokovic matches were not that entertaining or "good" in terms of quality. Just a brutal baseline grinding. The most notorious example is 2012 AO Final, which was a grinding personified on super slow HC. Imo QF Berdych vs Nadal was a way better match than the final.
I cannot comprehend why some fans consider 2012 AO one of the greatest matches of all time, there were far better clashes in terms of quality. 2013 AO 4TH round comes to mind, 2005 AO SF Safin Fed ( perhaps the best AO match ever) or 2007 Wimby final.

That's not a hot take - it was the mainstream opinion for a long time. Then people's biases changed, and people's memories faded.

Madrid 2009 stands as the ultimate Djokodal grindfest though.

If you find Djokodal matches boring I would contend that early Fedal clay matches are even more boring. They are almost always characterized by Nadal hitting loopy forehands to Federer's backhand all day and Federer trying his hardest to break that pattern, being successful for half a set and then faltering mentally.

Zverev > Sinner for now…
Llendl > Federer
Holger Rune should not have ever been in the top 10 let alone top 5.
Olympic gold medal = 2 slams

I think this was sometimes true but not always. RGs 2005 and 2007 as well as Rome 2006 and Hamburg 2007/2008 broke the mold in a lot of ways. I think this pattern was more evident in most of the 2008 clay matches and on.

Djoker only wins 5 slams if Fed was born 5 years later.

But seriously, I never understood why we do not play ALL lets in all scenarios and why in the world are we apologizing for any of the lets.

Rafter’s volleys were on par with Edberg’s and Mac’s
Krajicek’s peak is the highest of all one time slammers (for individual matches)
Becker severely underperformed given his abilities
Sampras has the highest peak on carpet
Borg’s 6+5 is the biggest achievement in tennis history

Because some gentlemen almost 150 years ago said lets will be replayed if hit on serve and it is gentlemanly to apologize if you win a point with help of lets.

Never seen anyone apologize in any other sports for something going their way and helping them win.

Imagine in hockey if the forward apologized to the goalie for the puck going crossbar in?

OR for the basketball hitting rim and backboard and going in and then.... apologizing.

I know and I agree with you.

Personally, when I score accidentally off the backboard in the pick up games in basketball, I actually do apologize to everyone :-D . But that's just me.

In volleyball when the server gets an ace, the whole team start to celebrate and no one apologizes. I always find that funny compared to tennis:D
