What clay court shoes have the best grip?

Hey wondering in everyone’s opinion/experience which clay court shoes have the best grip and what are the best ones you have tried overall?

Solution Speed FF2, nice deep herringbone grooves, I can feel them really dig in.

Others I have tried:
Vapor X clay
Vapor Pro Clay
996V4 clay
996V3 clay
Head revolt Pro 2
Ubersonic 2 clay

Still own a couple clay court Vapor Pros (which I am trying to sell) and looking at the bottom vs the Asics you can see the Asics tread is deeper.

Any shoe with a herring bone pattern. But keep in mind that you don’t always want the best grip. Especially if the clay is moist and you try to slide, it stops you dead in your tracks. Not a pretty way to end the match:cry:

Loving the Babolat clay outsoles, I don’t have much experience with clay shoes (being from Texas and just moving to the East Coast), but the Babolat shoes made the hartru feel like a hard court right out of the box. I love the balance between grip and slide on it.

Another vote for Asics. I’ve played the Gel Res 8 and every version of the Solution Speed and grip was great on all of them. Also had no issues sliding when I needed to.

Asics Gel Resolution 9 + Court FF3, both amazing.

I prefer the FF3s a tiny bit as they make me feel lighter + speedier on court although they are heavier.
Also rolled my ankle twice with the Resolutions, never happened with the FF3 yet but could be user error with the Resies.

Does anyone have any recommendations for the grippiest and widest clay court shoes on the market right now? I have been using the Gel Res X and they still feel a bit narrow and slippery (maybe my fault from an accidental day of hard court usage). Not sure if there is anything wider at the moment however

The Yonex concentric circle pattern is better grip, doesn't hold as much dirt so there's no need to tap on the sole after every point, and lets you slide easily, yet has better traction when you put the weight down for direction turns. The less tapping alone is worth the look at a Yonex.

Its not the brand....its the architecture

All clay outsoles have the same hallmarks accept for yonex:
1. Deep (1 to 1.5mm) tread
2. Tread that is cross sectionally pyramid shaped with the pyramid being upside and the broad part attached to the bottom of the shoe. This ensures the tread is pointed when the rubber contacts the ground;
Unlike hardcourt outsoles which are flat on the bottom.
3. Rubber is softer

Only yonex bucks this trend. Every other brand will feature identical patterns. Nike vapors have a wave like undulation...only other acception.

In summary, you cannot buy a bad clay shoe and their performances' will be indistinguishable.

My 2

Sure, many shoes will have similiar outsole for clay, however my NB 996 have a smaller and thicker herringbone pattern, that definitely grips alot worse than any Asics shoe, that I wore before. K-Swiss and Asics look very much the same (size and thickness)
