What djokovic said to ump. Wow!

Very poor choice of words from Novak. He should have focused on the serve changing part. The fact that this guy had a better chance of winning this match at that point than world #1 pretty much says it all:

Well, people can be disgusting when they're terribly disappointed. This is where SM makes life even more difficult than it has to be, all these things leak out in real time. I am not for a minute justifying what he did but I am just saying our getting to know what he told her makes him look more of a demon than he might be.

But going forward, maybe he can learn the lesson that he should be careful proactively and not reactively (after a catastrophic event). This is way more random of an event but still of a piece with his covid exhibition mess. There's nothing masculine or macho about recklessness and I think Djokovic doesn't understand that.

Don't think it's about that, he just has trouble controlling his temper. I can relate, had a short fuse as well (especially when I was younger) and it has often been detrimental for me. Of course, many pro athletes just aren't most developed emotionally, they're often still teenagers inside.

Here, he was just pleading his case because he was desperate to remain in the tourney. It was desperation, not malice.

Many guys on the tour are just like djokovic. Its normal some even worse. A lot is at stake. but he deserved what he got and the other issue is he is being compared to 2 guys that are not like this.

Pun intended?

One pun? Come on now...

1 - Real choke job
2 - cut-throat
3 - putting their neck out there
4 - Chokovic

It must be really sticking in Djokovic's craw to have had his stranglehold on the tournament broken. At least he won't have his collar felt as in the end no lasting damage was done. He'll probably feel like throttling himself today for such a lapse in judgement but in the end voicing his displeasure was all he could do and now all that's left is to swallow his pride.

Isn't it ironic that Novak pulled out of the Cincinnati doubles with neck pain?

And he left the premises at breakneck speed.

Great news - no one wound up in the hospital. It's a step up from Djoker's work at the Adria Tour.
No one went to hospital at or due to adria tour either. A few players tested positive for covid. No one even had symptoms Another story exagerated by western media.

The guy was shocked, desperate. Many of you would have reacted the same way, lol.
Totally.

Very easy to judge Novak from our keyboards.

A whole different story to be in his shoes.

He showed more composure than I would have.

He sought to care for the lady. Earnestly but respectfully pled his case. Paid his respects to PCB and the refs and walked off w out drama.

I’d have been curled up in a ball in the corner crying like a baby.

I know it shouldn't be funny but the throat shot video cracks me up. For him to just casually hit the ball underarm and hit her perfectly in the throat and drop her like a stone, what are the chances?

Yeah, he was actually great. I don't think he deserves hate for this. But keyboard warriors are just keyboard warriors. Oh well.

Well, it was school, movies, writing some articles in English, etc. Nothing special.

I mostly learned it on my own. 8-B

Tell that to Grigor Dimitrov.

Shapo was 17 (half of djok's age), took complete responsibility for his actions instead of trying to justify them, apologized in the presser after the default, paid for the umpire's medical bills and surgery and still keeps in contact with the umpire, according to the commentators. That's a huge difference from how djok handled his default, today.

Yeah I definitely have to agree. Seeing Novak get into that Tesla and then just drive away without doing a press conference and owning what he did was pretty shameful. He just released a statement via social medai, which to me is probably one of the most cowardly cop out ways to handle it. It's one thing for Novak to make the mistake and inadvertently hit a ball in frustration that struck the lineswoman, but I think how he handled the situation afterward revealed more about him. I thought it was really crappy of him to just take off like that, instead of doing a press conference, owning what he did and apologizing for what happened.

That's atrocious from Novak..how can he argue that? Instead he should have said I am Buddha.. Take everything I have..I dont care I am chasing a slam record..I am Zen...take my ranking points also..distribute it amongst Fedal.I mean this is what everybody does and Novak shouldn't be any different..

And at the end of the video he should have said..Oh Federer is such a god..playing at such a high level since ages..And such a nice guy..Zomg...I am having an erection while saying this and this is my only achievement in life, trying to identify with Federer..

Novak is such a criminal for not falling in line..Zomg..

Djokovic obviously panicked and frantically tried to talk his way out of defaulting. An entirely natural reaction, not like some planned mischief. When he realised there's no way, he accepted it wihout any more arguing.

Precisely! The lineswoman did not plan her reaction and neither did Djokovic when he found he had been kicked out of the tournament. Happened naturally and as you correctly stated, no planned mischief.

What he did was stupid. He was unlucky enough to have that stupid action result in a very bad looking hit to a person. Pretty sure anyone would get DQ'd for that, and they'd deserve it. Easy solution - don't hit balls toward people (note, he cranked a ball in anger the game before and was pretty lucky not to hit someone). The idea that this has something to do with the PTPA seems laughable to me.
Exactly he hit one just before that and the first video I saw ended there so I thought that ricocheted off and hit the umpire. He basically blew one GS away and for a first set lead that is stupid, I mean 4th set I can understand
