Hey lads, probably been asked here before but was wondering what do you eat before your match? When do you eat the latest? And how much?
During the match its obvious, everyone probably has a couple of bananas, water, some isotonic drink. After match we all eat some chocolate or a some sort of sweets to quickly recover.
Thanks for all replies

My pre-match meal is normal sized but lighter on the protein and heavier on the carbs. I want a balance of simple and complex carbs because I don't want to burn everything off quickly. Protein takes more resources to digest so I don't want too much.

Ideally, I'll eat 3 hours before but 2 works usually. If I only have an hour, I won't eat a full meal.

During the match, I typically don't eat; maybe a banana or some other fruit. Hydration is more way important to me. Water and maybe an electrolyte drink if it's humid.

Post-match is when you want your protein for recovery. Sweets aren't going to do much for you. I have heard people drinking chocolate milk but not eating chocolate.

You also have to account whether this was your only match of the day or whether you're playing multiples [ie a tournament]. If it's the latter, I'd have to account for the same things I wrote above, modified by the fact that I do need that protein for recovery so I have to balance that vs digestion time. Worst case is having too little time between matches, in which case you have to experiment to see what works best for you.
