What do you think about Diego Schwartzman?

Diego just played a great match against Federer in their 2015 Istanbul semifinal and he showed a really great tennis!

Diego can become one of the best players in the world. And and I mean, at a minimum, a top-10!!

A good Clay-court player. May get a few titles on this surface. Don't see him doing too much damage on Hard or Grass. He had a nice 2014 on the Challenger circuit.

He did a great match against Djokovic in the 2014 US Open.

No he didn`t. He somewhat managed to get a decent score in the third set, only because Djoko fell asleep. The guy is good, top 30 material, maybe a coupple 250`s wins, but that`s it. A Chela or Calleri type of career

Decent on clay.. hard for him to become top-ten based only on good clay results. He's a tremendous striker of the ball, but many are.

Lots of potential top-ten talents about, so we'll see how he does. He's certainly feisty and spirited.

Not like Calleri

Cuevas is much more like Calleri with a better serve. Check out Calleri dismantling Agassi, in Agassi's prime at maybe IW or Miami. Talk about being in the zone...

Schwartzman is a scrappy counter puncher. At least that's what I saw at IW this year when he came back to beat Janowitz (who really just beat himself with no defensive ability).

Chela was better, Schwartzman won't have the results Chela had on hardcourt.

Schwartzman moves amazingly well and he can generate a lot of power and spin from his forehand. I would wait at least two more years of watching him playing the all the tier1 events before counting him out.

I mean, at Diego's age who here expected Ferrer to become more than just a typical Spaniard clay player vulturing 250s and floating around #60-#90 on the ATP ranking?

Ferrer won 24 titles in his career so far. 12 non-clay titles, including 2 on Grass. I didn't see this coming at all.

Tennis changed, people. A guy with a heavy and consistent strokes that moves amazingly well will always have a chance to succeed on the tour now. If he finds a way to improve his first serve he can become dangerous even on HCs.

Isn't Schwartzman only 5'7? And he's currently ranked 63. Impressive for a guy who doesn't have the traditional tennis player height.

I think he's so short that he looks like a kid who has wandered in off the juniors tour by mistake. But I also think that he can move and hit the ball like someone 4 inches taller.

A talented young player. Let's hope he can get better and better!

I think Diego will be top ten at least. I can see the foundations of greatness in his game. His movement and ground strokes are exceptional, and he plays super aggressive. I think the only weakness is potentially the serve, but he will improve that. I predict 2 masters titles, a few 500 and 250 titles and an AO semi at the least.

I remember that Calleri match well. It was at Miami…he was the definition of being in the zone. Winners from everywhere.

He is not good enough for me to hate him yet, so I don't even think about the guy.

But, now that you've mentioned his name, I am thinking about him briefly.

Thanks a lot for that. I was doing great basking in my ignorance, till you mentioned Diego :).

i like his game, tennis should be separated into 2 division, 6 feet up, under 6 feet... haha...

I think he's a choking dwarf, what did he lose, the last 4 points on serve in the tiebreak-and Nadal certainly wasn't doing anything special to earn all those points.

He's the modern Rochus. Small, but puts up a dog fight.

Gives the guys like me who are 5"6 hope in the world of tennis.

Unfortunately for him, his lack of height is a hindrance to getting to a high level.
Even at club level, for those of us on the shorter side, you cannot beat a good tall player with more reach and retrieving ability, eventually you will be worn out.
Doubles it does not matter so much, and that is another option for Diego.
But good luck to him, if he can become a solid top 30 player with a couple of titles , that will be a good career.

Awesome to see him do well. He's my favorite underdog on the tour. Looks like a tiny guy but has a huge heart and has some nice power.

Love him. Noticed him a few months ago. That was a fun tourney to watch. I think the total gate count for the week was about 300, but the matches I saw were pretty good. I was hoping Ivo would meet Diego in the final. ;p

true. short players simply can't advance to a high enough level to beat a good tall club player. even a guy like diego who's 57 in the world would get worn out by a good tall club player

I'm on the other side. He plays like a factory worker which is obviously understandable considering his height but I just can't enjoy his game as a viewer. A stereotypical Spanish/SA clay grinder. Works extremely hard on and off the court, it seems like he exerts himself so much there's no pleasure in watching him.

You think a tall club player could beat a player who's in the top 60 in the world regardless of how he played?
