What do you think about this guys???

Love the backhand, would like to have seen more of the guy hitting his forehands, he was usually off the screen.

I would say these guys are very, very good tennis players.

Voces sao de Curitiba? Eu nasci en Curitiba rs. Que coincidencia.

By the way, judging from this, I'd say these guys are probably top division II in Brazil, probably 5.0 or above

Very solid players although I would bet the guy in the red shirt is better. Very smooth and in control off both sides. 4.5 minimum. As smooth as they are, I would say 5.0 most likely. Most on this board would aspire to be that solid.

Proficiently?

Everytime one of them hitted the ball harder, one of them didn't return it in or shanked it, or it went way long and out. They were just having a normal hit. Nothing out of the ordinary about them.

It's amazing how easily users here are amazed by some videos.

Granted I didn't watch all of them but as you can see by my post I was referring to the guy this end. He wasn't making many errors.

Mostly you'll find people underestimate others on videos. I base my estimate on seeing a few of these videos and knowing the players ratings and playing this people in real life.

So you disagree and think the guy this end could be a 4.5 (or below) then?

What is your opinion on his movement?

Well, his footwork looks ok, he's actually on his toes, unlike many others who are flat footed.

I'd give him a 4.5 maybe, not lower i guess, but remember this is just a hit, match play is what defines your rating.

So a 4.5+ then?

I know more than anyone that it's only results that matter, but until we see a match video that's all we've got.:)

With that caveat I thought he was hitting in a fairly relaxed fashion and got the impression he could dial it up further. Despite that he was moving fairly well - hence my guess at 5.0+.

But that's all conjecture on my part.

Well, they are my friends from Brazil. Both are good players, actually they play better than me. The red one is really good. The white one got a very heavy spin from both sides, it's hard to hit his ball. He's a good clay court player.

Dima: Are you from Curitiba too??? Where're you living now???

It's very funny trying to determine he player levels basing on technique.. but if you see a video of Fabrice Santoro what would you say?
Technique is important, but tennis is a lot of other things that are much more important than technique. Technique makes it easy, makes it posible, but those guys can be anything from 3.0 to professionals, depending on many other things we can't see.

100% true. What would you say about this guy:

^^^ That guy looks like he's a good mover, but when he has to hit that shot he isn't that good, he also looks like 30 something.

The name of the last guy is Gustavo Kuerten. Have you ever heard about him??? Looking at him trainning is something. He looks like an 3.0. But playing...

Well, I have never seen a 3.0 player even come close to stroking like that. If fact I bet you would find very few 4.5 players stroke like that. Those guys are good, IMO.

Santoro, I would say a very good 4.5 junk baller as Roddick so easily took out. Yikes!

Best regards,

You got to love Kuertenn. Just to watch him walk you would say this guy is not athletic but oh baby, when he was on the court he was a joy to watch and what a great guy.

É, eu e o de vermelho moramos, e o de branco mora no portão, bem pertinho. Eu moro a umas tres quadras do shopping. Eles jogam primeira classe. Eu jogo segunda. Acho que já ouvi falar do André sim...

Wow. Don’t get me wrong, anyone is entitled to their opinion but anyone who would even suggest they are below 4.5, let along 3.0, has no business rating anyone. 4.5s are usually not that smooth and sure they are just hitting, but come on. They are accomplished, strong players. How that isn’t obvious is hard for me to imagine. If that was 3.0, then most players would be about 1.0 and a total beginner would have a negative rating.

Sorry rant over.

Good tennis

i think i may be one of the few people here who thinks these guys would look better in matchplay. To me it looks like they are just rallying here, holding back.

EU tomei a liberdade de procurar seu amigo no orkut, e vi q ele vai pra academia do Marcos Silva? Eu acho q meu primo jogava la, entao talvez voce o conheca

I'm a 4.5 and do well at this level, either of those guys would beat me easily.

Exactly, I completely agree...
These guys are above 4.5. They have great shots, great directional control, great footwork, etc -- everything that 4.5 should have anyways, just a bit more of it. They are clearly higher level.

Nevertheless, I have not seen the serves and actual match playing that would determine their actual rating.

Otherwise, great hitters, both of them!

These guys would tear up any 5.0 USTA player on a claycourt.

I hope you realize that if you can't tell, their footwork is absolutely amazing. The fact that the guy in the red can hit a sliding one handed backhand with depth, power, and spin should really raise a red flag of "HOLY MOTHER".

Those guys are very good players. Definetly advanced players whereever they fall in tournaments. No slouches here. Love the energy in the feet. Volleys were a bit "swingy" for me. However, nothing that can be easily fixed with these guys.

Good stuff.
