I am curious about what you think.

Thankfully for Djokovic, Agassi too had a poor slam record against his contemporary rival [Sampras and Rafael Nadal, respectively], so he does not need to worry about that.

djokovic needs time travelling machine to return 6 months back in time and let federer win wimbledon and us open in order to be behind agassi

In terms of standard talk-tennis conventions he probably has, especially according to those who started watching in 2011. But the impressively versatile CVs of agassi and Rafael Nadal are very unique. Let us not forget that the olympic games is also a far greater and more glorious event than any grand slam [or why do you think federer keeps playing].
Why did the ATP decide to award no points for the next Olympic games if they are far greater and more glorious event than Slams then?
Talking about unique and versatile CVs, Agassi has the most versatile one. All Slams + OG + WTF = Career Super Slam. Nobody won all of those.
And Fed is playing because of his love for the game, not the Olympics.

This is the standard procedure in most sports. The glory and prestige of the olympic games, the eternal glory of winning individual gold medal for your country, is far more than enough by itself. Usain Bolt does not bother to peak for some trivial Diamond League races when the OG is on the line. federer will not prepare his season around Dubai just to scrap together some ranking points.
It is not the same value in every sport. Tennis itself was not in the Olympic program for the majority of the history of Olympics. In football, there were cases when club managers did not allow their players to go to Olympics just because the club had a pre-season tour and preparation for the new season.
Also, there is no way that Federer is behind Nadal or Djokovic is behind Murray and Agassi because of the Olympic Gold, especially when you look at some of the winners, like Massu, Rosset, Mecir and Kafelnikov.

The 5000-meter run was not part of the olympics for women until 1996, but it is still super prestigious. Tennis was a part of the inaugural olympic games in 1896, and has been featured every event since 1988, finally receiving the recognition and honor that the sport deserves and needs.

Sounds like some very egotistical managers that do not participate for olympic glory themselveso_O

Some very esteemed names here. In a hundred years, these are the ones that will be remembered.
The managers case is not even the main thing. In football the Olympics do not allow the national teams to have more than 3 players that are 23+ years old. Seems more like a chance for youngsters to impress.
Olympics are special because they are a rarer event than any other. But other competitions are the ones where you make a name for yourself. In football it is the Champions League, in basketball it is NBA and Euroleague, in tennis it is Slams...
Except Kafelnikov, people will only see the names of those players if they google tennis at Olympics, and even then it is not certain they will memorize those names. Believe me, everyone will talk about Federer and Djokovic in a few decades, while Nadal will be remembered for his 14 Slams, most notably 9 FOs, not because of the Olympic Gold.

He already has. But only just because Agassi played in a polarized era.

That is what I like about this place. It does not care too much about the outside world.
The olympic games are more cared for, watched, and valued than any other event in the world of sports, by a huge margin. It is what federer, djokovic and Rafael Nadal are preparing for as their main goal now.

Michael Phelps is not recalled for winning the local pool-party race in Waldorf, Baltimore. Usain Bolt does not peak for Diamond League. Tagir Khaybulaev did not make Putin proud by cleaning up at the local circus in Makhachkala.
Yes! The winner of the Olympic Soccer tournament is the best team ever, forget the World Cup. Ah wait.
You are comparing the importance of athletics/swimming at the Olympics with tennis vs a tennis GS event. Not even close.
Olympics (in tennis) have Significance because they represent own country and that is where it ends.

Sampras 1996, 2000, Hewitt 2000, 2 of those years, guys were no1 didn't participate in OG, lol.
Sampras is far bigger legend in history books than Agassi. And so many winners that came after him (not even sure who)

That's because those sports are meant to peak AT the Olympics. Do you think lebron is remembered for his NBA title or Olympic gold. Do you Lionel messi wants a World Cup or an Olympic gold. Tennis peaks at slams not Olympics.

world cup is basically olympics of soccer but your point stands. I think Olympics means a lot to the players but in the grand scheme of things it should probably be looked at between a masters and a masters cup.

I think Novak has already surpassed him, but a lot of people strongly disagree (just check out other tennis forums). The pro-Agassi contingent argues that Andre has the CGS and the OGM.

Novak has dominated 2011 and 2015 to a degree Andre could only have dreamed about. Nole beats his big rivals on the big stage, Agassi never beat Pete at the USO and choked away several golden opportunities there. Nole's won the YEC five times, has more weeks at #1 and a bunch of other plusses.

The Nole fans do need to stop beating the Masters 1000 drum, since in Andre's day, they were all best 3/5 sets. Agassi would surely have won many more of them had they been as they are in Djoker's day: best 2/3 format.

Only someone truly delusional thinks Djokovic hasnt long surpassed Agassi at this point.

I dont understand the arguments some keep trying to make that so and so would have won more Masters if they were best of 3, or less if they are best of 5. If anything best of 3 is a disadvantage for Djokovic since his fitness is superior, and best of 5 was an advantage for Agassi since his fitness is superior. If anything maybe if they switched in that regard Djokovic would have even more and Agassi less, and both had amazing fitness when at their best and used that to grind their opponents down in long baseline wars. Longer matches would only favor both.

Novak reached 38 finals at masters 1000 level at age 28. Agassi total 23 at age 34.

BO5 lol. Sucks right?
