What does Federer have to do to be seeded 2 for Wimbledon?

The formula of seeds as far as I remember is : double points for all grass court tournament points gathered in the last year + 75 % of points for the best grass tournament played 2 years ago. How would the "Wimbledon seeding points" look like after the FO (and after Queen's/Halle)?

I'm assuming it will be a similar draw to RG. Nadal and Murray in the top half and Federer and Djoker at the bottom.

Can't have #1 and #2 in the same half, and having Nadal and Federer meet in the semis would be frowned upon.

Doesn't Wimbledon change seeds at their discretion?

Yes, but what would they be thinking?

Remember: they'd be bumping up the guy who got knocked out in the quarters last year ... to the detriment of either last year's champ or the guy who's only lost 1x since November!

Isn't it a standard formula?

Ranking points + 100% last year grass point + 75 % grass points of 2009?

That would mean Federer gets a big bonus from 2 years ago in comparison to Djokovic. He'll need to win the French of course, but if he does, Djokovic might be seeded 3 DESPITE being the new no. 1 in the world.

Assuming Nadal wins:

1) Nadal 12070 + 2000 + 45 = 14115 total
2) Djokovic 12025 + 720 + 382,5 (for 2009) = 13510 ( I think I missed something)
3) Federer 9230 + 360 + 150 + 1500 = 11240

Even if Fed wins the FO, it will only be a 800 point swing between him and Nadal. So Fed is seeded 3 no matter what he does me thinks...

I guess this is correct.

In 2001 Sampras was first seed even though he was #5 in the world. I realize last years QF result means Fed is less likely to be put #1 but given his results at the FO the #3 seeding could change.

I can bet you they will make Federer 2nd seed, hopefully he will be in Murrays half for a change.

I'll take your bet.

'They' have nothing to do with the seedings, which are done via a formula. As someone else has already shown above - Roger cannot be 2nd seed.

You do realize that if Federer beats Nadal, Djokovic will be the #1 ranked player in the world. Nadal will lose 800 points and Djokovic is gaining 320 so he will leap frog Nadal.

What does that have to do with seedings at Wimbledon? I just pointed out that Federer is the no 3 seed no matter what and whether you're seeded 1 or 2 doesn't really matter

Roger, Rafa, or Nole could beat the other two back to back anyways, but a tradition--if I understand--by tournament organizers in setting the seeds is that of asserting subjective prerogative regardless of objective results.

No matter what the seeding ends up being I'm sure Nadal and Federer will be on opposite sides of the draw. You can bet Wimbledon prefer they not meet before the finals. And it'll probably be Nadal/Murray and Federer/Djokovic in opposite halves again. That's what happens 75% of the time.

There's no way a seeding formula can trump the ranking points that Djokovic already has from 1 major and 4 Masters this year. Unless Fed wins RG, creates a 5th slam event to be played between June 5th and June 12th and WINS it, he's going to be seeded 3nd.
