What does Nadal need to do to win outside the FO?

G.O.A.T.
Fed wants Roland Garros to achieve the career Grand Slam, but he's unfortunately run into maybe the greatest clay courter ever.

But, on the other side, Rafa has now won 3 FOs, made the final of Wimbledon and at least the QFs of the other Slams.

I think with his game and his fight he deserves to go down in history as more than a great clay courter. And, I think he's talented enough to win outside of Paris. But, so far he has come up short. What does he need to do to win a different Slam? He's almost there, so what minor strategic changes would result in a win rather than a late second week loss.

It's hard since the game that works perfectly on clay is not what works on hard court consistently. I'd say Nadal has to go for more winners on forehands rather than wait for the error. Also get a little closer to the baseline on the return.

Moonballing works on clay but isn't the strategy to get it done on the hard courts, IMO Rafa will never make the transition on hardcourts at a slam. Too many guys can hit him off the court. Clay is the only surface he'll ever snag a slam on.

Be more aggressive from the baseline. He did this perfectly at indian wells. Other than that I think he has enough stamina and heart to win a lot more grandslams. His backhand is getting better. Now he just needs to figure out how to beat the flathitters that kick his ass most of the time.

Tastes so good.

This thread reminds me of the posters who predict that Djokovic will never win Roland Garros.

Eh, Idk about Murray. Djokovic has a shot.

He's reached the semis. Just needs Nadal to be injured/have a bad year and Djokovic to get upset. I know it's a long shot, but if he really focuses, he can do it. He's bound to win in Australia sooner than later, he's been in 3 finals.

Djokovic definitely has a shot and will probably win RG either next year or 2015.

Murray may win the AO. I have a feeling this break might actually be good for him like Rafa's.
