What does popularity of Laver cup and 6 kings tell us?

I’m an old fart and resistant to these hyper exho events. I feel the traditional tours like atp and itf should be where I go to for real pro tennis kicks.
But from reading here and social media, I think I’m behind the times.
Laver cup and six kings seem to be very popular and garner comparable if not more interest to slams etc. I notice that these events are good at selling themselves and six kings had Netflix I think making it very accessible.
What it tells us? Is atp and itf needing to get their acts together to really sell the pro tennis circuit? Or are these exho just more trendy and a nice addition bringing tennis more attention?
And are atp and itf in any danger of being replaced by a highly paid and visible set of glamorous and accessible tennis events? For example monthly events like six kings with the top pros just turning up for slams and the odd masters?

No offence but I really don’t think they were that popular. They weren’t shown on free to air TV here in Australia, I never saw anything on Tik tok or social media, never saw coverage on the news, I personally didn’t watch it nor did any of my tennis watching friends talk about it like it was relevant. I’d put them at the same level as a 250 or a 500 title.

I’m glad the players showed up but we all know the reason was just for money, not because this is going to be the next slam. Lol.

i think old fart OP should stick to the ATP yes?

Laver cup and others are just the flashy exhos are just the marketing and hype, probably for people to gamble more on. Player only ther for crazy money, and may be to throw matches for rich indian bookies.

if playerthrow match in exho is this illegal? or no penalty? lots of money in betting

Yawn, the only one’s who have issues with these events is because your fav lost a h2h match and your ego can’t take it. Frankly, you guys discuss any ATP matches, so your stance is fake.

It's tough to judge the true popularity of anything these days IMO. Internet traffic and social media engagement are so easy to fake/juice with algorithms, pay to play, bought impressions, etc. Plus the sport is flooded with new fans from the last five years (post-COVID surge and Challengers/Zendaya effect) who follow the hype blindly. It's difficult how much of the attention anything is getting is 'organic' and real.

Exactly, what popularity? The Laver Cup has always been a flop except 2022 with the Big-3 and Federer's retirement. This year I didn't see much hype about the Laver Cup on social medias. Barbara Schett embarrassed herself when she said Laver Cup was more exciting than Grand Slams. 99% of the comments were laughing at her for saying that. As soon as it was over, no one mentionned the Laver Cup again.

The 6 kings crap only generated some buzz (mostly negative feedbacks) because of the money aspect. Nobody gives a damn about the results. Sinner beating Alcaraz means nothing. I only watched Highlights of Djokovic/Nadal and the ceremony after this match. This was a bad pub for tennis and I hope it was a one time thing. I don't mind exhibitions when it's just 1 charity event match or to honour a retired player (I may watch the Djokovic/Delpotro one) but I will never care for the Laver Cup or anything similar.
