What does the perfect slice look like?

Jer Yu

I have a slice that I use. I would say I hit 50% backhands and 50% slices on my backhand wing. My backhand just is not as good as my slice, even though I've only learned my slice for 8 months. My slices are low, as in it goes only 1 foot above the net usually. It also lands and bounces left. I play righty. What are the qualities of a good slice? Also, does anyone have tips on how to hit high slices? I hit great slices when the ball is low, not so much when it is high.

A good backhand can place the ball deep or short dtl, above the center tape, or wide cc on demand, and is consistent for your level of play against an opponent who knows to pick on it.
High backhands, either move contact forward or change grip more open to clear the net higher.

Try search for doubles drills, they have a lot of technique on volley which extends into slices.
