What else is there to win for Djokovic?

So you go to what motivates Djokovic now? One more slam?

He's done it all, he's got everything he wanted in his career, I don't see Djokovic as someone who would settle for just being there on tour, he either wins or there's no point of playing.

Already during this year Djokovic looked like he's lost a step, like motivation is an issue then he raises his game to win Olympic Gold.

Definitely him winning another Slam to stand alone at 25 Grand Slams is something he did mentioned in the past.

US Open and Wimbledon are the most probable that he'd like to win 1 more time.

I doubt Djokovic cares about this one but very few will say that no Halle/Queens on his resume might be the very last small hole left .

He now needs to play soccer for national team and score, Ivanišević style!
Maybe it would motivate those losers a bit.

Realistically the only thing i would like for him to get is the 3x Golden Masters so another Monte Carlo and another slam to get one more than Court. Anything more would be redundant

Beat Jim Connors' 109 titles.

His resume is complete, but if he still has the desire, he could go after a few more slams. In 10-20 years and beyond, those few extra slams might keep him as the GOAT in comparison to all the future ATGs like Alcaraz.

Record at W and USO....maybe FO as only 12 more to go so he could do it before 50

After today there is no way Alcaraz can be considered ahead of Djokovic ever i dont think.

What? Why not? He's already beaten him twice at Wimbledon, and he's probably 3 years away from even reaching his peak.
So i have long argued about the importance of the Golden Slam. In my view in years to come it will be the biggest prize in tennis (might already be so now).
Alcaraz lost on clay to a 37 year old. I just cannot see how he will ever be seen as GOAT UNLESS he beats Djokovic at this years USO in the final or semi final which if he does i think would be significant as 3-1 h2h in the slams might be relevant in years to come.
But i suspect Djokovic will no longer be a threat as his motivation wanes, understandably so. He has achieved it all now.

I don't see it as a big deal like you do, they're just 2 ships passing in the night. One yet to reach his prime, the other having passed his several years ago. I'm doubtful most of their matches mean that much, maybe the 2023 Wimbledon can be looked at as the most significant where both were playing well and Alcaraz won it.

Nothing really to add. Could put a little more icing on that goat cake that got another thick layer today. Add a few more masters, another slam.

Or, he could add another two or three years to the Djokovic haters pain and suffering. That would be nice. :p

Well yes, you do have a point there to be honest as in years to come we may look back and say the Alcaraz of now was fledgling Alcaraz say of Nadal 2007 vintage, i.e on the cusp of becoming the player he is to become.
I still think today though elevated Djokovic to a new plane.

Well, if he’s still gonna remain good until 2025…

He has a shot now of tying the USO record with Fed. If he’s still decent enough next year he could maybe tie him at Wimbledon but I don’t see that happening.

The most realistic goal is 100 titles. He’s one short and he’ll probably get it. Monte Carlo win would get him career triple masters.

He has the slam record, you can’t count Margaret but if you do then I guess he’ll need another one to stand alone.

Djokovic is one Roland Garros away from reaching 4x career slam, doubling Nadal’s record there.
Djokovic is one Wimbledon away from tying the record there.
Djokovic is one USO away from tying the record there.
Djokovic is one Monte Carlo title for 3x Golden Masters.
I think Connor’s 109 titles are out of reach, but Federer’s 103 is attainable.

Reaching even one of the above would be an extraordinary accomplishment.

If Novak gets to 25 and gives birth to several children, he may approach Margaret Court's greatness.

He has pretty much achieved everything. I don't know if he has any more slams though. It would be very, very difficult for him to win a slam match against Carlitos or Sinner. However, he can still win M1000 titles, so let's see what kind of record he ends up with.

There is a lot to still motivate him if he plays another four years.

  • 8th Wimbledon to tie and 9th Wimbledon to beat the record
  • 5th USO to tie and 6th USO to beat the record
  • 4 more AO titles to tie Nadal’s FO haul
  • 1 more FO to become the 3rd best at FO during Open era
  • CYGS
  • 2nd Olympic gold medal in LA
  • 500 weeks at #1
  • 110 Titles to beat Connors record for most tournament wins
  • 50 Masters titles
