Does anyone know if Roger Federer uses an Eastern, Semi-Western, or Western(which I doubt) forehand grip? Thanks alot!

I think mach1 is right. A full western, or even semi-western is quite a grip change for someone who volleys as well as Fed.

i'm betting he uses different grips for his forehand depending upon what kind of forehand he wishes to hit. he might not even know what his grips are called <some pros dont>..i think he runs the gamit from a continental for a squash shot to a semi western depending on what kind of shot he wishes to hit...all conjecture on my part of course

His swing path makes it look like he uses a hybrid grip (halfway btwn east and semi). When I swing with that grip, the racquet naturally follows through across the body like his shots. He also hits through the ball more than most pro's. That hybrid grip could be the reason.

nonsense perfmode..you can have that very same follow thru w. any number of diff grips.. it's a function of his swing plane and the open stance w. a very large shoulder turn. it;s kind of a smothered forehand. now perfmode is claiming to have a federer forehand..lol

Federer can only dream of hitting FH's as well as perfmode.

What Forehand grip does Nalbandian use?

Does anyone know if Nalbandian uses an Semi-Western, or Western(which I doubt) forehand grip? Thanks alot!

Tennis magazine did an article (ill try to find it)

but it stated that Fed used somewhere between an eastern and semi western (a semieastern??)

the article also stated that club players like some of us should use this grip over the more extreme grips due to the level we might play at
