What happened to Nadal's mental strength?

Just yesterday he lost the deciding TB from being 4-0 up lol.
Right, I guess he should not get bashed for finally losing a tiebreak for a change. He won 15 out of 17 this year, and he also had a great tiebreak record last year. Especially given that Thiem was the better player anyway, and should have won much easier.

He had an injury that got worse as the match went on. He'll be fine for AO.
Rafa specifically denied he had any injury after the match and admitted he was “very tired.” You obviously didn’t watch the match, since it clearly indicated he was simply gassed. There was no injury, it’s laughable VB always plays the injury card when Bull loses.

Seriously, what happened?
it was evident to me as early as 2017 when he choked that aus open final to fraud that he was never the same after 2014 aus open........2015 and 2016 were disastrous mentally so i did not count much on those seasons..........but i was curious starting 2017 to see what rafa brings with him in his 30s and there was a big change in his mentality........i suspect uncle toni may have had a part to play in it by distancing himself from his nephew and setting up his own academy.........nothing against moya but i just don't think he has the same kind of mental influence which toni had over rafa throughout his career........it is just sheer greatness of rafa on clay that he keeps winning the roland garros titles and an occasional us open.......

How does Federer hitting winners from all corners of the court and playing an absolutely clutch GOAT set translate to a Rafa choke? If that was a choke, so was Novak’s 2013 RG SF final set.

Exactly. And anyone watching the fifth set of the 2017 AO can clearly see Nadal was gassed after Fed evened the set at 3-3. He was running on fumes.

Ergo, Sampras was the better technical player than those others whose game is more dependent on physicality. Hail PETE, you heathen.

Yeah yeah, been said a billion times how Fred massively undermined his talent by lack of clutch. Only reason anyone is even close to him at all.
Fed should have won 2 of 05/08 Wimby/09 AO and 19 Wimby(worthless, but still counts on the scoresheet i guess) if he was a little clutcher. But that's about it. You can do 2-3 whataboutisms for pretty much any player. He's still pulled out more tight ones than he lost

Beating who you're supposed to beat is what the goat is supposed to do.

How was it possible that Nadal allowed so many break points against in the fifth set?
The Spaniard did not serve well at that time and that was his undoing.

I'm not sure a great serve is more technique than physicality.

nobody is perfect, you can only be closer to it than the others, that's it:sneaky:
Do you believe in myths, for example, in a term that is well known to many and that a huge fan base made it their own, materializing it in a great tennis player and believing that this is immovable and alien to be discussed, and who does it, is accused of blasphemy?

Because he is humble and doesn't enjoy talking about that sort of thing.

Nadal is closer to a slump than it looks. Yes, he was extremely impressive at RG, but the moment he is pushed or stretched, he does not seem to have the endurance or stamina to keep up any more. Which is why he plays super aggressive.
It's the smart thing to do imo, he has no business winning by attrition

rafa had no business allowing him into the set after leading 3-1, i don't think he would have blown it if it was 2012 or 2014........
