I give Medvedev 40% chance to win. Without the 5 setter with Zverev, I would have given him 20%, but I think Djokovic must be just that little bit more tired. As far as I’m concerned, I will be trolling a lot. Be warned.
40%? Loooooool

4% if Djovak accidentally eats bread or something

Then everybody should congratulate Medvedev for a great effort and breaking through at the Slam level. He's a tough competitor and has a chance to win this.

A Medvedev win seems totally out of the question, at least here on TTW anyway. It seems like people are already crowning the champion and his achievements.
But what happens if Medvedev does win?
Do we just keep doing the Big 3 debate?
Do we praise the Next Gen for finally delivering the goods? (And maybe also criticise them a little for not doing it sooner, of course).
Do we lament we never got to see the CYGS happen?
Or all 3?
And maybe others?
He deserves to win a grand slam and has a chance today. If he does, it'll likely be because of a bogus draw, where he expended next to no energy going through bums. It would also reinforce the need to change how they do draws, especially for 1-8. Ruud should've never been in Medvedev's quarter, nor Berry in Novak's, nor Nadal in Novak's half at RG. What is the point of being number 1, for example, if you're going to get stuck with higher seeds in your quarter (e.g., anyone higher than #8) or half (e.g., #3 vs #4) than what you should be playing based on your ranking (which is an extension of current year excellence)? It's ridiculous.

A celebration will happen lol. If Medvedev playes at a higher level than Djokovic and holds his nerve too? It will be great to congratulate the first Next Gen player to get a GS and Daniil will also consolidate his world #2 status.

That being said, whatever happens Novak is the man for getting to this point. His abilities at 34 and how he's holding under the pressure of this achievement is very special.

Med’s draw certainly wasn’t all that difficult but neither was Novak’s until the semis.

The question is what happens if he loses. Then the peace will have been brought by the Chosen One who escaped the Matrix and everything will be over.

So much discussion about an improbable event, LOL

Medvedev is boring, defensive and does not have the tools needed to beat the great Djokovic.

This is a hopeless gen and I am extremely happy Novak is taking full advantage and shaming the young gen

I believe they have all agreed this one is ‘prize fighter’ style rules

If Medvedev wins, he gets all 4 of this years slams attributed to him

Truth is if Medvedev wins and overcomes that final hurdle Djokovic may very likely not win another slam.

BS. Aqualifier in the quarters vs Berrettini in the quarters. A former us open finalist who anyone with eyes could see was playing his best tennis since 2018. Don't marginalize it based on the seed.

Medvedev will win this and start his Grand Slam domination. I expect him to win 2/4 Slams next year, with one being Wimbledon.

Med is just about to do it. He's my fav of the next gen (well, it's actually TsiTsi, but he's not there yet. Plus, it's hard to root for an anti vaxxer who chokes). Super excited to follow him for the next decade or so.

Rafa should send Med flowers. Or at least some chocolate. He still has a shot at the Slam title now. Maybe.

Truth is that much as I love Meddy, I don’t think he will win it and not because he can’t beat Novak. I don’t think he can hang with him for five sets when Djokovic is seeking history. Novak is mentally strong and he wants this bad. The CYGS is incoming. That said, I would be very happy to see Daniil lift that trophy and I’m holding out a little bit of hope; maybe 20% chance.
I am 101% sure Medvedev won't win.
The guy has silver plate winner written all over his face the way he is speaking
If Medvedev wins, he will be a goat
He goes down in history as one of the greatest ever. It is one thing to win a slam. But to win in that situation denying CYGS will be classed as one of the most difficult tasks ever.
He's just NOT good enough at the end of the day. None of the Next gen are.
Hoping that changes with escape from Alcatraz.

The post didn't age well

I think I saw her smile for like 0.5 seconds!

seriously, why does she always look like she's dead inside

such a weird couple
I used to think that too. But today I realized she just a different kind of nervous. She was about to cry when Med finally won. And was pretty animated when he was about to serve for the match.

They do love each other but rarely show it and are incredibly awkward
