Beating Rafa at Wimbledon during that period was clearly not an impressive achievement. Otherwise Rosol, Darcis and Brown might have achieved anything of note in their entire careers, combined. I'm not *trying* to take something away from Nick but it's good to be honest about the situation.
Beating Rafa at Wimbledon during any period is not an impressive achievement.
His two main rivals. Federer has EIGHT Wimbledon Singles Titles. Djokovic has SIX Wimbledon Singles Titles AND COUNTING! Rafa has TWO! And don't forget, there are others too Sampras and Borg who were very successful there. (And Borg also won 6 RG Titles!)
Rafa is NOT a grass court player. Wimbledon is not his main goal. It might have been when he was young and Toni imposed the significance of the Wimbledon Title upon him. But once he won one title there, the rest don't matter. His focus shifted to Roland Garros. And he has done reasonably well there. LOL.
If peak Nick played peak Rafa 100 times on grass courts in BO5, peak Nick would win at least 70 of those matches. If it was BO3, peak Nick would probably win at least 85 of those matches.
