djokovic win once agianst nadal at 2015 RG QF
but 2015 is nadal 's worst year ever in clay
and djokovic came really closer in 2013 RG
that stupid net touch cost him another RG TITLE
so beyound that , what have do to djokovic win agianst nadal at RG 2020 FINAL ?

For Djokovic to win against Nadal at RG 2020, he needs to a) make the final himself, and b) have Nadal face Thiem in a grueling semi-final. In that scenario, Djoker can win against Nadal in the final. Otherwise, I don't think he can.

Are you sure that would be enough? Nadal played a 5 setter against Delpo at WB 2018 and then didn't look tired in the SF against Djokovic.

Don't get me wrong, all those things would help (roof, Nadal playing a previous 5 setter SF), but I am afraid it won't be enough.

No, I am not sure that would be enough. That is just the ONLY way Djoker would have a chance (other than injury, coronavirus, or other act of god).

Helpful things for Novak.

1) Roof.
2) Nadal playing a 5 sets SF with Thiem.
3) Novak winning the 1st set. This could be crucial, since it could make Nadal more nervous.

All the mentioned 3 points may be NOT enough.

4) Nadal withdrawing from RG because he contracted the coronavirus or because he got injured

This point should be enough, provided that Novak is able to defeat Thiem.

Nadal to be average, imo.

There's a reason why Novak has lost all the encounters when they were both in good form.

Win at least 3 sets

On a serious note, he needs to play an awesome match, pray for rain, pray Nadal is tired after a gruelling SF with Thiem, hope Nadal plays subpar, hope that the pressure of equaling Roger's slam total gets to him, etc.

Shoot nadal in his left hand/any leg/@$$

Unfortunately, all he has to do to beat Nadal anywhere these days is just to show up. Nadal is in heavy decline. I don't remember when was the last time Nadal played a match without being an unforced errors machine. Even in Acapulco he struggles against his opponents, making lots of errors. So what will happen when he will face Djokovic who is without doubt in his head? (and Nadal is openly admitting that he is afraid of Djokovic)

Ah yes of course...the Djokovic Open...

There he is!

Wait where's all the usual stuff??

Djokovic Open ✘
RG is now played on fast low bouncing courts ✘
RG is now an indoor tournament ✘
RG roof will be closed 100% of the time ✘
In France it rains 24/7 ✘

Very disappointing from you, StrongRule.. I trusted you to put this thread to bed!

You are boring. Bring something new instead of bashing every comment I write.

The load that a body takes playing a clay match is much bigger than grass.
Points are much much longer ..u keep on rallying

U need to run a lot more on clay. That's why legs are so important.

It's battle of attrition on clay. Grass is much faster

I think with everything in Nadals head, in a RG final versus Djokovic , it could be enough for Djokovic.

The history of the 20th slam
The fact hes supposed to be favourite
The fact Djokovic is on the other side of the net
The fact he has been prone to mentally collapse as hes aged

Theres a lot in Djokovic's favour, if they both get there.
Lets also remember that Djokovic will be super motivated like never before, and will probably play unbelievable tennis.
He thrives on facing Nadal, or whoever is his main rival at the time. He will smell blood.

I honestly wouldn't like to bet on it either way.
Nadal should be the favourite, but I just fear the pressure might be a major factor for him.
I do want this to be the final, though, and will applaud Djokovic if he wins a 2nd RG title.

I thought you are writing a great comment, but of course you had to ruin it with the last sentence.

Hey, I want, more than anything, Nadal to do it, but wouldn't even that matchup in Paris, make you nervous?

I just feel if anyone of the big 3 manage 2 slams at every one, then it has to be applauded. That's the only reason.

I cant see Nadal winning another AO, or Fed another RG.

Play well, simply. To me Djokovic already proved that he can beat Nadal at his best in 2013, he was very very close. Since RG 2013 they're 4-4 on clay including 1-1 at RG. Djokovic has dominated the non-clay matches for several years now and is visibly in Nadal's head. With the rain being a factor more than ever before because of the roof added, and the possibility of Nadal finally tying the Slam record increase Novak's chances even more.

Djokovic has a good chance to show everyone that he can beat a well playing Nadal at RG this year. The draw will be crucial for both of them.

Why? Because he wants the best going at it in the final. This would be the money match.
Can't blame you. Of course Djokovic fans want a final where Djokovic will play against his pigeon (who is also in heavy decline) and will be the heavy favorite to win. But I'm surprised a Nadal fan wants a final where Nadal has no chance of winning.

We all wanted it last year also, and Thiem had a say in it.
I feel he may have a big say again this year. He can beat Nadal or Djokovic at RG.
That, I believe.

For me, that would be the worst ever match. Losing to Djokovic in RG final (and let's face it, Nadal is never beating him in a slam again) will officially end Nadal's career, once and for all.

Yes, Nadal is not winning another AO. He is just too unlucky there. Djokovic on the other hand is extremely lucky in RG. Now they even built a roof for him.

I would rather Djokovic doesn't play Nadal or Thiem at RG. Much rather prefer anyone else in the final. But I also appreciate the big fight feel and that crazy buzz you get around that time, something tennis fans can get amped about. And RG is where Nadal is the better player by far, I wouldn't even put Djokovic over Thiem there right now.

Thiem right now is a much more dangerous opponent for Djokovic. Though I doubt Thiem can beat him in RG final. Might push it to 5 if he plays well, but that's it.

Thiem has come a long way, I may have agreed with you more than likely before last year's clay season, but under Massu he has grown massively. He is now knocking on the door. I personally rank both him and Nadal over Djokovic, the only real chance Djokovic has is if those play each other in the semis, and kill each other, while he gets the easier semi.

Thiem has the game to beat Djokovic, but not the mentality.

Thiem has won the last couple of matches against Djokovic at RG. Please don't use the AO example to say he does not have the mentality, that was also on Djokovic's best surface, and Novak picked his game up towards the end of the third set despite losing that set.

I don't need to use AO final, because their last year's RG semifinal was the best example. Thiem was choking like crazy in the last 3 sets. He still ended winning 2 of them, but the choking was real. I mean, even the crazy Djokovic fans admitted that Thiem choked while serving for the match, and that says something. By the level of play he should have won it much easier, like 6-2 3-6 6-3 6-4.

Preliminary percentages to win RG
(Disclaimer: If anybody bets real $ based on this, they are crazy, or crazy rich.)

Rafa - 40%
Thiem - 25%
Novak - 25%
Field - 10%

I really want this match to happen and djokovic's streak of wins against Fedal in slams be broken which exists since 2014.
