What if Medvedev further improves his serve...

He’s already a great server. His game actually works well on grass. Hopefully next year Wimbledon gives him the respect he deserves and gives him a proper scheduling. He lost to hurcaz because of the dumb scheduling in R4. He probably could’ve reached semies or finals if not for that. His ROS is a problem though. Not sure if it’s a good idea to stand a million miles on grass to return.

His serve is the last thing he needs improving. He needs to learn how to be more aggressive at times and not just be a defensive grinder. He also needs to develop a net game desperately, it’s his edge over Zverev who still hasn’t developed one in 5 years of being a top 5-10 player.

This. He needs to improve his ROS and movement on grass

Can he win Wimbledon considering his ground game...
How scary would he be?
Grass is his weakest surface. Reason?

1. He does not have a slice.
2. He's too tall for a surface where ball stays low.
3. He's not a great volleyer.

You've got to be kidding. Raonic may serve 140 MPH once a match because they rarely land in the service box. His disguise and placement also are lacking. Velocity is not king with serves. Med's second serve is clearly superior to anything Raonic can come up with and Raonic is such a choker, had he been facing Djokovic in a slam final he would have folded like a cheap tent. Med put up a serving display on Sunday which the USO hasn't seen since Sampras graced the court. Give me Med's steady serve any day over Raonic's occasional bombs.

No. He is a likeable guy but he is a hard court specialist who is way off beig top 10 on clay an hard . He will improve a bit but not enough to win Wimbledon.

You think Medvedev serves better than peak Milos? Milos, one of the greatest servers of all time? Has anyone proclaimed Daniil as having one of the best serves ever, like they do/did with Milos?

I thought Wimbledon bounced back pretty well after that 2002 final.
Neither Nalbandian nor Hewitt played two meters behind the baseline. Their match wasn't essentially different from any recent Djokovic match on grass vs any other baseliner like Bautista Agut who is best on fast surfaces. Hewitt was very good on grass, and Nalbandian was very good on indoors carpet. He won Basel on it beating Henman and Federer in semifinals and final, lost carpet finals of masters to Safin, and was the last man to win the year ending masters cup on carpet.

Medvedev plays 2 meters behind the baseline for real, that's his style.

he might struggle at Wimbledon because he’s not aggressive enough. Feel like you need to play attacking tennis if you want to win Wimbledon, especially in this day and age.

his serve's not gonna get much better. he doesn't have the mechanics to serve like raonic and honestly his works just fine.

he might surprise us on grass but yeah, biggest issue is positioning, you just can't stand that far back, it doesn't bounce enough and you have to be ready to run forward. he could step in, but his forehand needs some time to wind up, i think he'll have to play with his strokes just a bit. thiem did a pretty good job of that on hardcourt though, so, who knows? he's a smart guy and i don't think any of us are typing anything he doesn't already know. might hold off betting against him at this point.

Medvedev is 5th in hold percentage. Nothing wrong with improving your strengths, but I don't think it's what's needed to win Wimbledon.
