What if....

It's happened to me before. I was pretty pissed. He was a friend, and an ATP stringer, though. His first question was 'How many times have you strung this frame?' Yeah, he had me on that one: it had been strung a TON. :D

well he broke it though right? so its his fault so they should replace it shouldn't they? if a stringer broke mine, i'd fight however much i had to to get it replaced. but then again i own my own stringer so that helps alot. so if i cracked my racquet it'd be my fault, but i'd still be pretty pissed

Yeah, but if the racquet had been strung a million times before and was ready to break, I'd say it was not the stringer's fault and he should bear no responsibility for replacing it. It's like if you got a demo racquet that had been used many times before and on the first hit, you crack the frame. Should you be responsible for replacing that demo racquet? I'd bet you'd say no.

Get a lawyer and sue him for everything he is worth! Muhahahahaha!!!!

or...

Just ask him for the money to buy a used racquet and buy one that was in a similar condition.

was it a demo or his own racquet? idk, i'm just saying that because you didn't have to sign some contract or w/e saying they aren't responsible they they are responsible

It was my racquet. It was a crappy racquet, and it was time to change. They were Surges that I had sanded down and painted white. They had been strung far too many times. Besides, it just wasn't the racquet for me.

Well I've strung over 1000 racquets and never broke one, so if I ever break one and I haven't done anything different than I usually do, I will know it wasn't my fault and I will blame it on the racquet being old or having a default... And if the guy wants to sue me or anything I will tell him to talk to my boss since I work for a tennis club but I personnaly won't pay for his racquet:)

That's not the point. I was using a demo racquet as an example of who bears responsibility. You cracking a well used demo racquet on the first hit is the same as the stringer cracking his well used racquet during stringing. If you don't think you should have to replace that well used demo racquet, then why do you think the stringer should have to replace his well used racquet? Both probably broke because they are well used racquets, so in the case of the demo racquet it wasn't your fault that it broke, and in the case of his racquet it wasn't the stringer's fault that it broke.

Depends, new racquet, ask the stringer to replace it. Old racquet that had been strung a lot, bad luck. Between is a judgement call. Also I think if it was in guarantee I would agree to try and get it replaced by the manufacturer. I just don't believe that racquets should crack after a few stringings.
