i know it's a pj of a ksix one, but not sure what it is under the paint...
I'm guessing it's a KPS88 with a K90 paintjob. That would make the most sense since both Edberg and Sampras used the PS 6.0 85 for their entire careers.
BTW, was Edberg playing an exo in LA? This is the first I've heard of this. Who did he play against? Sampras?
16x18 pattern: PS6.0 95
I spot the grooves in the bumper... just like the ones for the PS6.0 95
is that too thick to be a 6.0?
he played against jim courier...i spotted this on yahoo sports...
then click on photos.
A 3-man round robin between Chang, Courier, and Edberg . A match per night -- ending on Saturday. If it is a 6.0 95, maybe they'll do a signature for Edberg: KPS 95. Looks like he moved away from Fed's frame. It's a shame that tennis organizers do a pretty poor job of advertising their events. One would think that the 4 legends that are playing in LA would get shown on TV -- at the very least stream the matches online. Who wouldn't want to watch Edberg v Courier?
Thursday night: Edberg v. Chang
Saturday night: Courier v. Chang
lol i just noticed another buttcap replacement.
Poor Edberg bought a fake from **** ...
I wonder why Sampras wasn't part of this but played against Safin instead?
It would have been pretty cool to have seen a Edberg/Sampras/Courier/Chang round robin as all of these guys have had some epic matches against each other during their careers, especially Edberg vs. Chang.
Could be. That was my 2nd guess as the head does look kind of big.
Has nobody else noticed that what we have here is a real rarity!!!
Edberg smiling twice
By the way I saw him play last year and he is still the best volleyer in the world!
I think you are right.
it is not a fake he is using the ps 6.0 95. Also if anyone noticed courier switched from the real ncode 90 to the pete pre ps 88/ federer racket. His handle is shorter and the string spacing is different like rogers. but its for sure not a k90
I think you're right. Only the 6.0 95 has a headguard like that with a box beam. And the beam looks closer to 20 mm than the 17-18 mm for the 85-88 sq. in. models.
OK, he's only really smiling in the first photo, still even a half smile was rare
Surprisingly, near empty stands. I don't get it.
Agreed, it does look like the 6.0 95 from the pics. I'll be attending the his match tonight against Chang and will hopefully get some pics.
Can't wait to see those sweet volleys up close and live for the first time!
^I was at the match, it was late in the day(5:30) & Safin-Gulbis had just finished a 3 setter, so a lot of the crowd left for a breather. day matches in the early rounds don't generally have the best attendance anyway (even if most tickets are sold - LA has a lot of season ticket holders that just come to the night matches. Guess those people have jobs)
It started getting crowded near the end(when the night session people started entering the stadium) There was supposed to be an oncourt autograph session with Chang, Edberg, & Courier afterwards but they nixed it because they had to start the night session.
And its not easy to watch tennis for 7 or 8 hours straight in 85 degree heat with no shade, I was getting a bit tired/hungry at the end of the Edberg match, wish they put it on earlier in the day. Edberg got a little tight in the super tiebreak, he had match points. He also imitated mac's serve for some reason on one point. what a wacky guy! he got his serve up to 121. and hit a couple aces at 117.
sampras isn't a big fan of playing multiple matches in a week(the champions tour changed their format for him this year, it used to be 3 rr matches & the final, now its just 2 matches)
I think LA would have had to pay him quite a bit more to play more than just one day, he's quite a bit bigger name than Chang, Courier, & Edberg.
The tournament organized these exos after it realized it couldn't get Roddick, Blake, Murray etc(& paid the senior players out of the appearance fee money they were going to use for those guys)
Nice!!! Where did u get it from?
Yes, please post your pics here afterwards.
Edberg-Chang should be one heck of a match! The ultimate attacker-counterpuncher match-up!
Interesting, thanks for the info.
What a prima donna that Sampras is. Personally, I'd rather see Edberg anyway as he doesn't play as many exos as Sampras does.
Wow, Edberg is serving bigger now than when he was on tour?
Day and Hot
I think that a lot of people will probably come on Thursday night to watch Edberg v. Chang since the Courier v. Edberg match was during the day and it was extremely hot out there. Also, Safin was out on the court during the match.
I was out at the match as well (as well as the Sampras/Safin). Quite fun. Pretty sure he was using the 95. Took at little while for Edberg to warm up but then we got to see some of those great hands at net.
Edberg and Chang play tonight.
There was no one in the court-side TV camera pit yesterday for Edberg-Courier. Unless it is being taped from somewhere out of my line of sight it is a real pity.
One would think these matches would be televised or at the very least publicized. I didn't know about it until yesterday.
One would think... This is a grossly mismanaged tournament, which is a shame given its long history and the many storied players who have been in it since 1927. Truth is it is only a 250 point tournament, with commensurate prize money, and no one gives a **** these days.
So anyone knows the match results among the 3 legends? Thanks.
I would play in LA given the chance... even if only for the trip to the Playboy Mansion.
Wow, that Edberg vs. Chang match lasted pass 11:00 pm last night. It ended in a third set tie breaker, Chang won 10-3.
They both had a great time on the court, joking around, etc....
Chang still have speed, of course not as fast like the old days.
Edberg still has those great volleys and soooo much touch.
Good to know Chang won again against Edberg
btw, what racket is Chang using now? if anyone knows.
Didn't Edberg briefly try the PS 95, and then switch back?
I thought he briefly tried a PS 6.1 Classic and then went to a PS 6.0 85 with a PS 6.1 Classic paintjob.
Funny how Edberg still wears Adidas and Chang still wears Reebok, just like the good ole' days. Could these retired guys still be sponsored by clothing companies?
As jmk2888 said, the match ended pretty late...probably closer to 11:30. It was a typical LA sports crowd, with half the stadium leaving around 10:30 or so. Those who stuck around got a treat.
The match as classic, all-court 90s tennis. Classic server and volley against classic counter-puncher. Both players still had it. As a huge Edberg fan, I was mostly watching him, but Chang played amazing. The first impression I got from seeing Edberg play live for the first time is how silky smooth and light on his feet he is. You could always hear Chang's shoes squeaking around the court, but Edberg's movement was almost cat-like. His volleys were razor sharp as usual. Surprisingly, there were a number of cat and mouse net points which Chang usually ended up winning, credit to his speed. In the end, I think Chang was much more aggressive in the final tie-break. They both hammed it up for the crowd quite a bit and it was cool to see that they were having just as good a time as we were watching them. Great exhibition.
Back to the point of this thread, it did look to me like Edberg was playing with a PJ'd 6.0 95. I'll post picks later.
Could be. I think you'd know better than I.
I am not sure how financially they are doing. Chang is up to building some tennis schools in China, Edberg I am not sure. You know many ex tennis pro go broke, eg Borg. I think these people come out of retirement to play tennis for money (and for fun). Most likely they got sponsorship for their attire.
Found 2 clips on youtube for the Chang vs Edberg.
I am happy to see both guys can still hit a lot.
i think edberg is a partner in a private equity investment firm. pretty sure he was smart with the many, many millions he made on the tour, and has probably made many, many more since retirement.
that is good to know!!
I wonder how is Sampras doing. I know Agassi is doing pretty good with his business and tennis camp.
Those were awesome! Thanks!
anyone knows what shoe edberg is using
China . . .
Adidas Response Edberg
Wow, those are nice clips! Wish they would come up to norcal, I'd definitely go watch! It's nice to see the legends (especially Edberg, my fave) back on court again.
