What is going on with tennis?

If you go back and watch the highlight videos, Nadal looks like he's throwing the match to me. It seems obvious. I often let others win in table tennis when I'm bored or want to boost their confidence. This is what it looked like to me. Nadal is not a good actor and I'm sure there is a lot of things going on behind closed doors we don't know about... but I mean c'mon... to chalk this up as a bad day or Novak is in his head is a stretch of the imagination.

Everyone is saying Djokovic was just too good, but to me it appeared that he didn't have to be too good. Nadal didn't keep the ball in the court! And coming off such a great run... no... something is wrong here.

You've forgotten the most important part of doing something like that - a motive.
What motive could he possibly have for throwing that match? The payoff for winning, both financial and in terms of legacy, would have been huge.

Also forgetting that you would have had to bet like 20 million to offset the difference in the winning check and the odds going into the match

I'm open to a better idea of what's happening... because there are countless points where he doesn't even try or look like he's missing on purpose.

I truly believe that Novak is hands down a more legit talented player however the sport needs to make money. Rafa, Novak and Federer are the biggest draws to men's tennis and they need to keep the storyline going of who's going to tie who in slam count. Tennis is going to revolve around Novak and Rafa cause they are more legit rivals then Novak is with Federer. The sponsors bascially own the tennis players and keep in mind sponsors want to make money sponsoring these grandslams. I think sponsors were more dissapointed in the ones sideness of the match then the outcome.

ATP is all fixed. Certain players are made stars by being allowed to use drugs while everyone else isn't. Match fixing... etc. They want to create super stars and it worked. People tune in. If nothing was fixed by the ATP, we'd basically have college tennis.

It looked like he was throwing it because he wasn't moving much and we're used to seeing him lunge for every ball all day long.

But if you actually watched his first 6 matches, he was doing the same thing. None of his opponents actually made him pay for it until Novak.

I see Bull letting balls go that he would have easily gotten to in his younger years. Can you seen 2007 Nadal letting that forehand winner go? No chance. It's very, very strange. He's not even trying anymore.

That was a direct short-angled return winner.

Nadal couldn't have touched that even in his best days.

Yes. Exactly. There are plenty of moments like this throughout the match.
Yeah alright I guess it's kinda maybe plausible if you squint a bit

Where's that thread with the guy who suggests that the whole ATP Tour is staged? Who knows what goes on really.
