What will be most impressive?

If Nadal wins a grand slam in 2013, which would make it a record 9 consecutive years that he won a grand slam?

Federer winning at least two grand slams for four consecutive years (previous record was 3 shared by Borg and Sampras?

Federer being ranked in the top 3 year end for 10 consecutive years (Connors has the record with 12)?

Federer first being ranked number one on February 2, 2004 and last being ranked number one on November 4, 2012. This is a gap of 8 years and 39 weeks. Nadal was first ranked number one on August 18, 2008 and was last ranked number one on July 3, 2011. This is a gap of 2 years and 45 weeks.

Can you make a thread without Fed and Nadal in it or even Djoko and Murray ? It does get old with my uncle is better than yours argument. I think this has been re hashed hundreds of times. An honest request. Thanks.

I would actually say winning 1 slam 9 years in a row. Though I think winning 3 slams in a year 3 times is more impressive than this. But out of those lot, I pick nadal winning 9 years in a row (if he does it)

I think I have to go with the last one above. The fact that Federer was able to get the number one back at age 31 playing main rivals at least five years younger and showing that consistency for so long is most impressive.

Yes it runs circles around the weak era argument.

I think the fact that they both have a carreer GS outweighs almost anything else.

Of course the semifinal record of Fed is quite unique and might never be done again.

Also the number of GS finals they have played against each other is incredible.

Rafa winning a major on clay grass and HC in the same year. That has never been done before and can't imagine it being done anytime soon either.

The 2 greatest achievements in the history of tennis:

Nadal won slams on clay, grass and hardcourt in a Calendar Year, the only man in world history ever to do so.

Laver won all 4 slams in a Calendar Year (although 3 of them were on grass, one was on clay).

Federer being in two dozen consecutive semis, winning 7 wimbys, breaking sampras' record without any injuries, and essentially showing that men play with a 1hbh.

And Nadal for beating the above player, on all major platforms, in the finals, repeatedly.

Nadal is 52-1 at Roland Garros.

Federer has lost in the 1st Round of Wimbledon on 3 occasions. And lost in the QFs in 2 of the last 3 years.

Nadal's 52-1 at the French Open and 8-2 lead vs. Federer in majors at 3 different venues. He also has a convincing head-to-head lead over his 3 big rivals, both overall and in majors.

Federer's 17 majors, 23 consecutive major semi finals and 34 consecutive major quarter finals.

I prefer 18/19 finals than the quarterfinal record Mustard, wouldn't you say that's more impressive?

For Nadal it is him, being unable to win more, despite of all of the above.

For Federer it is difficult to choose.
