Stock Tour 90 when it first came out? (although actual layup/composition is unknown, longer handle/shorter neck is apparent. could very well be the same layup he uses now, just with the handle/neck differences. though, even if comp. is the same as it is now, by virtue of the fact that it does have the neck/handle differences, this would in fact be a different racquet than he uses now, correct?).

That is a picture of Roger Federer using the stock Pro Staff Tour 90. He has been documented using the racket for a few of his matches, before his custom nCode pj was made for him. To this day, we still don't know what he actually uses. It's either the PST90, or the PS 6.0 layup. The retail k90 has already been ruled out.

Why would he ever "add paint" to his racquet????? A "paintjob" has nothing to do with adding paint! If Wilson had given Sampras a PS 6.0 85 with a red paintjob on it, it would weigh the same as his old one with the black paintjob on it. He customizes his racquets with so much lead tape anyway that it really wouldn't matter what they started out weighing as Nate Ferguson would make sure they all weighed the same when he was done with them anyway.

Yes, I'm speculating that Sampras used to add lead tape to his racquets, and that Nate Ferguson use to customize his racquets, and that he made sure all of Sampras' racquets weighed the same after he was done customizing them. Sure.

The only thing that's not speculation on this board is how little you know.

You made some wild claims which I respond to, yet you reply back with a loaded response that has nothing to do with your last post. You are very misleading, and just a plain trickster.

How little I know? I have been stating facts, and have been making logical/rational statements which a lot of the board members have supported. Give it a rest already, we don't need your useless attempts at misinformation, either.

All this has been stated by you before and has been disproved by many replies from many TW members. It's like we're walking in circles. Who are you trying to impress? Just go by what we've been discussing, and stick with the cumulative information that we've built upon. Otherwise, it's just plain obvious that you have another intent/agenda to prove.

Besides, I can tell by your insults that you are attempting to insult me. And it is still BESIDES THE POINT. It is fair to ask: am I talking to a teenager?

You made some wild claims which I respond to,
Huh? "Wild claims"?? Like Sampras adds lead tape??? That red paint weighs the same as black paint? That even if they didn't it wouldn't matter because Sampras had all of his racquets customized to weight the same? Don't you think the weight variances between racquets is large enough already, especially with Wilson's poor QC, that the weight of the paint the least of anyone's worries? Not that they don't weigh the same, of course.

It's ridiculous that you are stretching so much information just to fit over your POV. "Wilson's poor QC?" Are you talking about Professional Stock or Retail Stock? Oh wait, it doesn't matter... just as long as you can confuse us into believing what you say, right? ;)

I don't want to get into insults. Enough already, be a gentleman.

All of Sampras' racquets were made in St. Vincent. What "Pro Stock" are you talking about? The reason Sampras liked the St. Vincent racquets was because the racquets were out of spec. They came in at 18mm instead of the spec of 17mm, which made them stiffer, which he liked. He took the retail frames like everyone else. They never made special "Pro" frames for him. It didn't matter what they weighed when they came from the factory because he had them customized so much that they didn't resemble the weight and balance of the stock frames anymore anyway.

Down the rabbit hole

There seems to be quite a bit of arguing and confusion regarding Pro Room stock and Retail. I would like to clear this up.

First lets talk retail. There are three major factories which Wilson makes their Performance Racquets. Of course there are many more additional factories that the Big Boxes (i.e . Walmart, Sports Authority, Target ) get their racquets from. But right now I want to focus on these three.

I will call these three, Chang , Sampras ,and Todd. These three are not chosen because they represent a huge volume of sales for Wilson, but rather the high end quality that they provide. The specialty retail racquets are manufactured from these three. Of these three Factories one has been chosen to be the sole provider of Pro Room racquets, the Chang factory.

The Chang factory then has a special team that is specifically assigned to the Pro Room. This means the Pro Room specs are the tightest in the industry. Because of this specialization there is no need to STOP the line as some people have put it when there is a request but rather it is separate group that is focused on making several dozen per week compared to the several hundred that others are. These finely crafted models are shipped to the Pro room for even more fine tuning and in the case of the top athletes are then shipped from the Pro Room to Nate or Roman for the absolute personal touches.

Of course!! If the assembly line is cranking out nCode90's, how do you all of a sudden start making K90's unless you stop making the nCode90's first and then start making the K90? And if you're going to bother doing that and lose that amount of time's production of the nCode90, you sure as heck are going to make more than a couple of K90's. You're going to make a few hundred. And, yes, I have worked in a manufactuing plant as a manfacturing engineer.

Your theories are quite stretching, although entertaining!!

We will prob never know what he uses...I didnt know he used the PS Tour 90 which makes things even harder...for all we know he could be using the PS Tour 90 with different cross spacing and shorter pallet....he could have used the Tour 90 and liked it but felt it didnt feel right in his hand with the long grip.

Interesting...:)

Thanks for your honest input.
