What is the most fun you've ever had watching pro tennis?

I don't know if I've ever had more fun than watching a 26th seeded Ivan Ljubicic's improbable win at the 2010 Indian Wells tournament.
Just great stuff from Loobs.

I thought the same when it happened, but it wasn't the case for one reason: What seemed to be a unique Rosol moment just turned into the usual Nadal moment at Wimbledon in the years after.

As true as that is, it does make you wonder if Rosol opened up the floodgates for many other upsets to come. Remember that before that match, the chances of an upset on that rank scale was insanely rare to the point that it almost never happened. Yet after, you had all kinds of upsets for Nadal, Federer and other players. Its like it gave players belief that they too could achieve it and look how many huge upsets we've had since. Rosol started it and i always credit him as the biggest upset ever in tennis.

I think it was Roddick Nadal at the 2011 US Open. Instead of rooting for Roddick hardcore and believing he could win, I'd just drink a shot everytime Roddick approached hopelessly and got passed because of it. That was fun to watch. Morning after wasn't so fun though.

Also if you somehow have never heard or watched this match before. Start the video at 14:20 and just watch in awe.

Great match. Also opened the floodgates for every journeyman pro and local high school player to beat up on him at Wimbledon the rest of his career.

I Can sum the last 26 years old in terms of watchability/enjoyment

1990-1996- Amazing. Most exciting time to be a tennis fan. Talent all over the place on ALL surfaces
1997-1998- Kind of boring, though a few good Sampras/Rafter matches an Sampras/GOran. The talent was gone for the most part by this time though.
1999- Resurgence of Andre. GREAT year. Would have been better if Pete played the USO. Sampras playing peak tennis prior to injury, Agassi playing peak tennis
2000-2002. A few good tournaments (Wimbledon 2001, AO 2000, USO 2001,) but for the most part very weak and unenjoyable
2003-2007. CrapFest for 98 percent of the time
2008-2012. Good 5 year period with Nadal/Nole finally showing up to the dance while Fed bullied bums for 5 years with no talent.
2013-present. 2013 was good. Horrible since then. No up and comers making themselves a serious threat.

That crowd was going bonkers. Been a while since I'd seen the highlights. Rosol was so pumped he felt compelled to pull a Borg, upon sealing the R2 match. :D

For me it's very specific. The Roland Garros 2021 semifinal. The momentum shift between 5-0 in set 1 and then will nole be able to consolidate the lead in set 3 , it was highest pressure match I watched on tv.

Fed vs. Roddick Wimbledon final. I never expected Roddick to stay in the match, he did, amd those tense missed volleys were heartbreaking for him. This was probably one of the only matches I ever wanted someone to win as I thought it would have been a great culmination to Roddick's career. Alas...

2022 was better bestie ;) that epic comeback from a break down when it looked like it was going like 2021 :p

Definitely 1995. First because it was my first year watching tennis, but even looking back with a neutral view I think it was the best year in tennis (at least nothing better came after, I cannot speak for pre-95).

AO 2017 final.
I stayed up til 3AM to watch that one. I had expected Federer to lose again, and was mentally preparing for the heartbreak since before the match… only Roger had other plans.
When Nadal went up 2-0 in the fifth set, I was thinking “here we go again, AO 2009 all over again”. And when Federer wasted what seemed like a gazillion BPs in his first 3 return games… well, that was that, it seemed. Roger just couldn’t get into a point after that slice serve in the ad court.
Then Nadal missed a fh, and then Roger hit THAT return, very angled and low, and even Rafa didn’t manage to hit it DTL over the net.

Suddenly Fed was serving for the match. But if course it couldn’t be that easy. Despite holding with no issue the last 3 service games, it was 15-40 in the blink of an eye. When Roger hit an ace to erase the first one, I dared to dream of hoping. But I knew, with Rafa more than any player I’ve seen, it ain’t over till it’s over.
One match point came and went. On the second… could Roger put enough spin on a mid court fh with his new racket? When Hawkeye confirmed what I had thought I’d seen, that fh land square on the line, I jumped up and punched the air like never before.
All the heartache before (and even after, see W19) was worth it for that moment.

Not sure if "fun" is the word I'ld use, but a match I'll never forget is 17-year old Chang vs Lendl at Roland Garros in 1989.
I watched it at the club as a 9-year old with a bunch of other people. All of us were in shock and awe lol

Stunning match.

Recency bias here. Novak alcaraz olympic gold match. Any time you can ask and i am ready to watch that match again .
The last real chance for novak and playing against alcaraz was tough for him . But somehow he managed to win .

eating popcorn in the front rows of an exo-match of legends.
the seats were unoccupied so we occupied them and were dying laughing with some stranger beside us.
