So Im playing doubles and my partner hits a bad smash into the ground and the opponents get it back and lob it over my head. I run back my partner is ****ed for messing up the smash and throws his racquet on the ground thinking they hit a lob winner. I get to the lob and lob them back, my partner then scrambles to pick up his racquet and gets it just in time to hit a volley winner after they retrieve my lob.

We won the point and walked back to serve the next one, he asked me was it legal?

Yep...as Suresh said...they could have called a hindrance and took the point I think, but as long as they didn't say anything it was okay. If were to happen tomorrow a team could say something and take the point.

Your opponent could have called a deliberate hindrance on your partner, but since they didn't, the point continued. You won the point.

I think "Spot" is thinking of the racket slipping out of your partner's hand. That is not what happened here.

This case should have been a hindrance, as your opponent thought you were losing the point and threw the racket.

Is my opponent allowed to shout come on to himself after I miss my first serve ?

I know a guy who does it and its really annoying?

Woodrow- I was thinking it is only a hindrance if the other team actually called it a hindrance. I was under the impression that once they continued to play that they were not able to go back and claim it.

I do think that they would have been entirely within their rights to call it.

I agree. I think they would have had to call it when it happened. You can't continue to play the point and only after you lose it 2 or 3 shots later call a hindrance.

But if their reflexes were good enough to call a hindrance in time, they would be playing at a much higher level :)
