As a Federer and Nadal fan, I think tennis peaked during the period of 2008-2010. You know it's a big deal when non tennis people are talking and discussing tennis. I'm not sure if we will have period from Wimbledon 2008 to Australian Open 2009. The hype and anticipation rivalled other great sports.

In terms of the toughest match, surely it has to be Nadal at the French Open in 2008 - something like 60% return games won during the tournament. Some shocking stats, but it's not just the stats. The level he was at in 2008 was unbelievable.

I think Prime Federer at Wimbledon comes second but Prime Sampras is very close. I will give second place to Federer because he did beat Sampras at Wimbledon, although Sampras wasn't at his best, he was still champion and Federer was years away from his best. The matchup showed that a pre prime Federer can hit many return winners and passing shots.

2011 Djokovic is solid, but I would say the other three have a higher peak.
