I always wonder whether Wawrinka's peak level on clay is better than Federer. After all, out of 23 meetings, he only scored 3 wins over Federer on clay. Also, he beat Federer and Djokovic to win his FO title in 2015, which made me suspect that at his peak level, Wawrinka is a formidable opponent for anyone on clay.
On HC, Wawrinka had 2 HC major titles, one over Nadal in 2014 AO, the other one over Djokovic in 2016 USO. What is his peak level at HC against Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, Murray? Considering Wawrinka never beat Federer on HC, he should be a level below Federer. However, Wawrinka always gave trouble to Djokovic when they played on Grand Slams, and Djokovic is the second best player on HC. So this made Wawrinka'S peak level at HC on par with HC ATG's level?
On grass, I believe Wawrinka was kind of mediocre, far worse than Federer, also a level below Djokovic, Murray, and Nadal.
What do you think?
