What is your favorite TV show or movie from before you were born?

if a Tv show, it has to have originally aired before you were born, but could run past your birthdate (as is the case with mine) and optionally post your birth year.

Mine: The Twilight Zone, born 1963

I too, like The Twilight Zone, as well as, The Andy Griffith Show. For movies, I like Dark Passage (47) & The Ten Commandments (56). Born 68.

All in the Family could be funny at times. First aired in 1971, so that predates me.

Some of the old Columbo episodes were good. That first aired in 1968.

Then of course MASH, which first aired in 1972.

Too many movies to name, but I liked when movies had things called "plots", "dialogue", and "character development". But, the kids seem to like "special effects" and "witty banter".

I was going to say Twilight Zone even before I entered the thread. Since it's already been mentioned, how about the original The Outer Limits (1963-64)?

As for movies, I'll have to go with Hitchcock. Vertigo (1958) is a nice example.

As a child I loved The Monkees which was shot in the 60s but re-aired in the 70s.

Lots of great movies before my time but Planet Of The Apes is one of my favs.

Casablanca (1942). Wasn't much TV before my day.

Same here. (I like to follow up a viewing of Casablanca with To Have and Have Not.) But i would add a lot of old musicals, too. Hitchcock, film noir, Goodbye Mr Chips (1939), The Third Man, and many more. Most, if not all, of my fave movies are the B&W ones which all predate me.

TV came into our house pretty late. For a long time we resisted TV. IIRC, it was only for the Olympics (76 or 80?) that we got our first telly. I don't know if the BBC TV shows of that time were made before i was born, so can't say.

I absolutely love love love both versions of 'To Have and Have Not'. Timeless.

I must have seen a couple of thousand films, but I've never gotten around to seeing Casablanca,it just doesn't interest me for some reason. Probably because it's popular...

I'd go for Taxi Driver and perhaps Fawlty Towers or Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em

Hey, I've seen Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em !!
Isn't that the one where there is a man whose wife delivers and he keeps saying "Now I am a MAN !!!"

the seven year itch
Sureshs was in the remake of this. It was called "The seven year pitch" and it revolved around an Indian software engineer that emigrates to San Diego and must deal with chronic Viagra-induced priapism. It is a delightful romp full of double entendres and situational comedy, like when Sureshs's lady boss hangs her coat on Sureshs extremity without noticing. ;)

I only seem to remember James Cagney when I have to go back in time like this.

James Cagney as William 'Rusty' Sullivan. :D

I must have seen quite a few. I can only remember "One, Two, Three".
I have "White Heat" and "The Roaring Twenties" on my list. Anyone here have any opinions on these two.

I've used the boy spitting milk too many times today, so I'll post this reaction instead.

But remember that I really meant the boy spitting milk.

My Uncle had a big collection of James Cagney movies on VHS. Back in the 90s, I used to watch a lot of them with my Cousin when I would visit. I thought Angels with Dirty Faces was one of his most famous movies. I love the ending.

Yes, Planet of the Apes is easily one of the best movies of all time, released the year I was born.

As a kid, I used to see this in our local library. It was an air-conditioned place which was a rarity in those days. My folks would leave me there in the morning (it was near their office, and pick my up at 5 pm on the way back.). They showed us Planet of the Apes. Can't remember the others. Used to sit there and read Hardy Boys all day.

Was born in 89 so I have to go with Animal House! I haven't really watched much TV from before I was born though.
Poor guy. You were born just before all movies started being pretty much shlt. :D

Well, you could actually choose any of the Cohen Brothers stuff, like The Big Lebowski. I myself thought of choosing one of their movies.

I still haven't seen The Big Lebowski! I know I need to, that wouldn't work for this question though since that's a late 90's movie so I was definitely around. Monty Python and The Holy Grail is another favorite of mine though, that's the 70's!

Ah, yes. Brain fart, sorry. The Big Lebowski is 1999 I think. Definitely a great movie though.

Difficult to choose. My opinion changes daily. Now I'm thinking Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now. For TV show, it would probably be The Twilight Zone as many have already said.

I would have probably gone for 2001: A Space Odyssey. But I was in my terrible twos at the time of release.

Mr. Mooney (Loved the money). :)
Oh yes. Mr Mooney ! LOL.

I have too much pending to watch. Gosh, one lifetime is not enough to see all the good movies and TV shows. I'll prbably watch Lucy when I am old and bedridden and crotchety like Mr Mooney himself :)

I found The Big Lebowski on Netflix last night, have never seen any movie like it. It was good though, can't hate on Tara Reid before the plastic surgeries and befriending Paris Hilton either haha.

This poor dog was forced to solve mysteries because the gang was useless without him. Scooby is the king and this is one of my favourite theme songs.

This show is from 1969, I was born in 1992. The show had great characters and was highly enjoyable.

I also loved this theme:
