I play 4.5, but maybe not anymore cuz I haven’t really played since April and don’t necessarily plan to. At my absolute best I have beaten 2 5.0 players by the skin of my teeth. One of them was legit 5.0, the other was probably more borderline.

I’m really not that great, I peaked at like a mid 8 UTR and wasn’t any better than a 7 most of my time in college tennis.

I have no clue what these ranking points mean as those don’t exist in Europe or at least not on Germany. That being said, I was never more than a recreational player, in the under 14 class I once played a year in the fourth highest German youth-league but that was my best. I had always focused more on football and later basketball.

Strong to quite strong. I have chronic tennis elbow from my work/tennis so it depends on my pain level. But I can hold my own with the guys from the local D1 college. Hitting wise. When we play points the gap is obvious. But I'm old now.
Some days I can also lose to a 3.0 or somebody that just picked up a racket.

i used to play quite well in my early 20s, regularly at the weekends.....i played on clay and hardcourts, never on grass.....i would rate myself somewhere around intermediate level for that age at local clubs.....

i prefered playing from the back......my forehand was insanely aggressive, i used to hit like fernando gonzalez it came so naturally to me, easily my best shot.....i had the habit of slicing my backhand all the time as it was a single hander and it was easier for me to slice than drive the ball of that wing......never really volleyed much but i could raise the heat of my forehand from the back like anything......

these days i don't even get enough time to watch tennis, forget playing......

25 years of recreational tennis. I have no idea what my level is, but I guess it’s pretty low. I beat my opponents regularly which doesn’t mean anything really since we all suck. Being in my mid fifties, I’m starting to seriously feel my physical limitations.

You sound very similar to my level.
I lost badly to legit 5.0 but did beat one who was mainly 5.0 due to doubles results
How come you may not play anymore?

Right now a solid 4.5 since I started working out on a regular basis like 8 months ago, it's incredible how much more easy power you can generate, I feel like Berdych at times LOL, but unfortunately I play like once a week or every 2 weeks, so not that often anymore. Turns out your level goes up when you are in good shape and work out a lot despite not playing often, who would've thought?!

Not quite metsman level yet but a man can dream. Realistically I'd say roughly Djokovic standard. Not really where i wanna be but I'll take it for the time being.

If you only play once a week (or less) then you'll start to lose consistency with your return game.

I have that same problem. I used to compete 2-3 times per week.

Today, I'm lucky to play 10 times per year.

My returning skill have diminished considerably from where they were prior to the pandemic.

Yea, I feel once a week is enough to maintain a specific rec level. If it's once every 2 weeks I definitely need a solid warm-up.

What kind of workouts do you do? Anything tennis specific?

When I'm at my best I am more like Djokovic game wise, when I'm not, I'm more like Murray

Probably peak at 5.5 on clay but I said 5.0 because I don’t know NTRP that well

Scratch that somebody just sent me a conversion chart def 5.5

Nothing tennis related - just heavy workouts to look more athletic and jacked - deadlift, bench presses, pull ups etc. - you know the drill.

But honestly after like 6 months of doing it on a regular basis I got easily 20-25% more power in my shots.
I heard that Nick Kyrgios has been doing the same type of thing.

He likes to play some Call of Duty in between reps.

If that dude had 10% of the dedication of Nadal or Ferrer he would look 10x better and have 100x better results.

minus the dumbass tats of course lol

You'd have to go back to Nick's junior days to fix his groundstrokes.

His backcourt game is not on the same level as the Big 3.

Honestly, it's not even close.

On a good day I play like Federer, on a bad day I play like Djokovic and end up taking some performance enhancers to try to play better, but like Djokovic it usually ends up with me screaming, throwing my racket and hitting passerbys in the throat with the ball

Yet he has a winning record vs Djokovic has defeated nadal a few times and played an epic match vs fed in Miami. He relies on his serve and forehand not on grinding from the backcourt
