What is YOUR string of the year?

Volkl V-square is the spinniest string I've ever played with. If you're into spin, it's a lot of fun.
I guess I should go ahead and nominate ...

Tecnifibre 4S

which I'm installing as mains in hybrids with good client feedback. I always like square shapes for wear & bearing surface reasons and the 4S 1.25 mm has been a worthy performer (so far, tbh, since I'm not quite through about one-third of a reel yet).

I like it.

Luxilon Element & Volkl V-Square have been my favourite this year. I'm considering trying either Alu/Element or V-Square/PTF hybrids next string job.

For me, Volkl V-Square 16 with Diadem Flash or Tier1 Ghostwire 16L crosses. It plays amazingly soft, huge spin potential, just the right amount of power, and very long playability.
How have you found V-Square in a hybrid compared to a FB?

I've not played Volkl V-Square in a full bed, due to reviews from other people on this board that showed the sharp edges result in very early notches in mains and early breakage.

I can play with it in the mains in hybrid with round poly without breaking it for over a month. I need to cut it out by then due to loss of tension causing increased trampoline effect.

Born out of the desire to make RS Lyon work I tried something similar to the Jolly Rig II.

BBO mains/RS Lyon cross @ 23kg

Plays like a dream. Really solid, good durability, access to spin and excellent touch.

Tier One Tour Status, Head Lynx Tour 1.25, and Ytex Penta Power Twisted have been the standout strings of the year for me.

I made a thread about Tour Status. No one replied to it. It is a seriously overlooked and underappreciated string.
Hmm I haven't been as active lately, I'll look for it.

To me, it's a great middle ground poly. Pretty soft, lasts long time, slightly shaped, and just plays well. No crazy gimmicks, just a solid string.

+1 this thread to 411 the current TW Black Friday 50% off TF Polys Sale which makes the 4S nearly as cheap as you can get any good quality poly (S7T, Max Power when discounted, etc.)

Pair you won’t hear often: Grapplesnake Game Changer with Signum Pro Polaris cross. Spin and control like Ultracable, comfort and just enough power. Polaris is a great cross string.

My favorite of this year are
1. Razor code 17G @48lb
2. Triax 16G @52lb
these two offer comfort, ball pocketing and control to me. And the durability is quite nice.

Gamma Tnt2 full bed is not for me.
Gamma Solace no good either.

As the title suggests, what is YOUR string of the year?

I’ve been testing a few strings this year to mix it up and so far Gosen AK Pro CX has been my favorite. Definitely a powerhouse of a string with good bite on the ball. Did not think I would enjoy a synthetic gut as much as I did.

I’m looking forward to trying Tourna S7T and Solinco Confidential to see what they bring to the table.
I agree. My current setup is Gosen AK pro CX on the mains and WeissCannon Silverstring crosses. I like it better than much pricier Klip legend gut/Alu power hybrid which is about 2x the price.

I have a couple sets of gamma livewire professional that I'm going to try as well soon.

Solinco Confidential 16L. Great balance of power, control, feel, touch and spin. I use Confidential in the main in a hybrid with syn gut or multi in the cross.

Tecnifibre Ice Code, love it in a low power high control racquet for sweet added pop & power whilst still having the benefits of polyester. Such great control too doesn't sacrifice control for power.

-tec.ice.code was my last years (2020) string of choice, good string on w.blade sticks
-this year, i like y.P.T.REV (2021), great soft comfort and power on a poly

Never tried REV how does it compare to YPTP?
-soft in comparison
-gives you additional power
-as a yonex string it retains good tension stability
-but once it goes soft, i start to loose control on shots, as expected
-i would string 3-4lbs higher than yptp string

-better than lux.smart
-crisper than isospeed.cream
-crisper than head.linx and on par with h.linx.TOUR in regards to stiffness
-all of these polys last few strings i would consider in the same category

Strings I always have somewhere in rotation this year:

Poly Tour Pro...always solid. Graphite color has good tension maintenance and feel.
Max power/rough - good in NG hybrid. Excellent tension maintenance.
Klip Legend NG - hybrid mains
Velocity ...havn't fully figured this one out yet.

Strings I am interested in trying:

-Tier one string lineup particularly black knight and ghost wire.
-Head Lynx Tour
-Vokyl Cyclone Tour
-Luxilon 4g in a NG Hybrid or 4g soft
-Solinco Confidential and Revolution
-I'd like to try X-one biphase or similar premium multi as a main to Hybrid with.
I'd try Triax over X-One Biphase, which I never liked...

Finally another Tour Status fan! I get tired of all the Black Knight talk
I have a mostly unused reel of Black Knight. There was something I thought I liked about it initially, but there is something off about it. It doesn't have a consistent feel (or maybe it just lost tension quickly). Whatever it is about it, it is in my head and the reel remains in a box. lol

VS Touch natural gut with Alu Power crosses. Nothing else comes close. Too bad it's so expensive
If I could restring every four hours, I would agree. Since I don’t do my own stringing, it is not an option for me. So, I play with VS/HyperG Soft which is playable for about 15 hours.

That’s true just I would highlight that Ice Code probably won’t work in powerful frames. Outside of that I love Ice Code too.

I nthought the only choice of color was yellor when picking this string !
Along with the signature flash yellow YPTP is also available in blue and 'graphite' (black).

I have reels of the 1.25 in the yellow & black.

which do you like better? So far I like the blue better than the yellow.
I'm no help; I haven't played the blue, and only have strung the yellow in customer frames (I don't play poly fullbed). The graphite plays nicely as a cross with NRG² or gut mains (no surprise there) which is my usual daily driver kind of stringbed.

When I used YPTP in a gut hybrid, I found the black to play better than the yellow as it was slightly less lively. I am yet to try the blue but people here have said that it is super slippery!

As a fan of multis, I’m definitely nominating Triax 17. Other than that, Solinco Confidential. Surprised there isn’t more love for these strings here.
