Other top players of his generation clearly have a favorite surface.

Medvedev: hard court
Tsitsipas: clay

But what is Zverevs best surface?

Indoor hard, I think. In general I think it’s pretty close between hard and clay, but I feel like a large amount of the best wins of his career come indoors.

The runway.

Why are some of you saying Indoors?

Indoors are conditions. The court is a hard court, whether it has a roof over it or not. He can play matches at AO and USO, which can be both indoor and outdoor, but surface is hard regardless.

Statistic-wise, clay is Zverevs best surface. 3 of his 5 Masters wins were on clay, despite having just 3 clay tournaments per year compared to 6 hc.
Also in terms of career match-winning percentage, clay is Zverevs best surface.
And he now has 2 clay semis at slam level and 3 hc semis, despite there being twice as much hc slam tournaments compared to clay per year.

One of naughty Nadal fans might have been trying the voo doo dolls on Zed and it accedently worked. That's my theory of the day anyway.

Yes, but he won Olympic Gold, and two WTF titles on hard court. Those are the biggest titles out of AO and USO on that surface.

clay just sent him off to six months rest. Seriously, people. What are you smoking these days? He's got big titles on hard and indoor.

yeah but I think if we purely rate Zverevs strength on different surfaces, this is not a good argument. Because there are no Olympics or WTF played on clay, so Zverev doesn‘t even have the chance to win these titles on clay. But the thing we DO know is that Zverevs match winning rate is best on clay.

What I mean by this:
Zverev only has ONE chance per year to win a big title on clay (French Open).
But Zverev has THREE or FOUR chances per year to win a big title on hard court (Australian Open, US Open, World Tour Finals, Olympics).
So of course he will win much more big titles on hard court, even if he is as good or even better on clay.
