What kind of Alcaraz "fan" are you?

Obviously. Carlos would be lucky to win a Challenger in the strong era.
Loooooooool! FeroBango, surely not caught for a duck!!!! Most likely, he'd hit dream sixes all day long. It would be interesting to see how he'd fare as a cricketer. I've started looking at his arms since you pointed them out, and he'd make a superb all rounder - As a bowler imagine the spin on those flyers! Alas, we will never know. But one thing is for sure, in this tour at the current time, no one comes close ( we don't count Djokovic for obvious reasons!)

What kind of fan am I?

I‘m a fan. That’s it. There is no agenda.

I love his game, his attitude, his personality and his talent. He has the X Factor for me, like Rafa does. Vamos Carlos!

I am also a Rafa fan, have been since he first appeared in tour. So what. To me Rafa is special as he has proved time and again. Maybe Carlos won’t achieve on a big 3 level. I don’t care. I will still be his fan.

What happens if Rafa ever plays Carlos? I root for Rafa in that instance. Why? Because I don’t ditch 17 years of being a fan because he is at the end of career and every victory he can get is extra special now. Carlos has his whole career ahead of him and hopefully he will have many more victories for me to enjoy.
Bravo! What a superb comment.

This would have been me had Roger faced Carlos. Cannot possibly see myself cheering for Alcaraz in an encounter such as that.
Yep. Me too.

Yep. Me too.
He'd have been a complete cricketer as well. A rare athlete.

There are 5 types of Alcaraz fans on TTW from my observation:

1. Djokovic fans who big him up during tournaments but crap on him later when their guy has won. They go from "damn he has the highest level now" to 'lol he got 2 lucky slams hehe".

2. Fedal fans who celebrate him when he wins against Djokovic, but will stomp him down when he loses to knock Djokovic down for it being a weak era. "See? Djokovic has vultured until now with an ATG finally to stop him" to "he'd be lucky to win a 250 in 2012" is their range.

3. Mythical fans who call him a peak Big 3 equivalent -- used as a reference by the fanbases above to jointly mock him lol.

4. Homogeneity era critics who think that the Big-3 aren't all that special and that any potential ATG without equivalent competitors can and should break all possible records while recognising that Alcaraz is potentially that ATG.

5. Actual fans. There are perhaps 4(?) of us here. This type of fan partakes in criticising him too but in good faith unlike the other fans of his.

Which one of these is you?

Edit: Honorable mention: the Alcaraz anti-fan. They are happy bigging Sinner up as they find the Sinner hype somehow more palatable than the Carlos hype from Tennis media, and predicting a roid-rage episode or two from Alcaraz at some point to spice it up.
A worried one

Is the guy too nice though? That could be a big problem for him.
He's an arrogant fool at times and loses because of his cockiness. He no doubt has the champion's desire to win but isn't the type to routinely do a Djoker/Rune with MTOs yet. He's a genuinely good sport and it can't really hurt him.

He's called brash, arrogant, and cocky in bad faith by the online mob already but I wish sometimes he'd indulge in some gamesmanship to be fair. But as of now he's young in life and hasn't learned the tricks of the streets fully.

Yeah the more experience he gets the better he will get in that department.

Above all I just enjoy watching him play. I don’t watch all his matches, I believe he’s going to win a lot when he peaks, but his game is fun and inspiring, because of that I’ve played more tennis this year than the last 5 years combined. Last player(s) that had that direct effect on me were Fed, then Nadal when he came into his own, Sampras before that (I’m a 1hbh lefty all-courter).
Beautiful. Sorry I missed the post but I'm glad you're having more fun than ever on the court, and that Alcaraz happens to be a factor behind it.

Definitely not a fan.

I cheer against him because:
1) I want Djokovic to continue to win and set other records.
2) There's a chance he could take this records in future.
3) I'm Italian and I hope Sinner will be the next great player. (But I know he is well behind Alcaraz right now)

Not a fan, but I recognize his greatness.
This is not intended to criticize this perspective and I love the unabashed honesty.

But isn't this more like cheering against a player simply because they might (operative word "might") challenge their guy's stats 18 years from now or that Carlos might end up dominating Carrot Boy?

I have no understanding of this mindset but I see it here constantly, it's the norm. I'm a Rune fan and going forward, he will play (and probably lose) to Carlos many times. But I still love Carlos, you can have several favorites at once. It seems bizarre that so many Djokovic fans loathe Carlos because they fear he might pass their idol. You guys are going to spend the next 20 years cheering against Alcaraz because he might pass Novak instead of enjoying tennis? Never mind that his chances of reaching 25 slams is literally <1%.

What’s funny is he was kind of a MTO merchant back in 2021… I remember in Winston Salem he resorted to the dark arts, tactical bagel, 10 minute bathroom break, the works. He did it a few other times too. That un hindsight seems mostly due to him not fully trusting his body, though, imo.

If anything he now trusts his body far too much.

I'm losing faith in him and the team with respect to body management. Their track-record continues to be questionable.

Also him losing focus after a slam isn't happening for the first time this year. It literally happened (to a far greater extent) yet they've not done the required job to ground him.

Yes, in part it is.
I think there are other factors, particularly that I don't like Alcaraz "personally". Obviously, I don't know him and he's probably a nice guy, but I find him unlikable.
I always liked Rafa, and I cheered him against almost everyone who wasn't Nole(Or an Italian player). In part it was because I preferred him to Federer to hold the records, but even in AO22 final, with the Slam Race being between him and Nole, I cheered for him against Medvedev(I don't like Medvedev too, I didn't cheer anyone in RG22 final because I like Ruud too).
So, if some other "likeable" guy like Sinner or Rune(Or someone else that stands in next years) starts winning multiple GS titles, I won't likely be too concerned about Nole's records.

The big-3 results speak for themselves, each one of them, they don't need to prop up another player to "big up" they've beaten all kinds, Novak is still beating all kinds.
I have way more respect for the non-fan than the ones to whom Alcaraz is a prop to big up a Big-3 member.

Damn if only the Big-3 fandom wasn't nasty and was individually made of mostly secure individuals who shouldn't ideally partake in slander of any kind.

Hint: that's not the case. I've personally not seen you around and your TTW "bio" says you're a rookie here. Sit back and witness the crapshow for yourself.

Sometimes, i cant help but think carlos is like when federer started to dominate (altho charlie is not there yet, but the media sounds like he is), winning everything until a real competitor shows up. i think in this case, maybe sinner, rune, or some new guys who will come and spoil the party.

I like Alcaraz. He brings some excitement to the game and isn't afraid to mix things up.

Once he irons out some of those wrinkles in his game, he's going to be well on his way to being a dominant player of the next era. I do hope he takes a page out of Djokovic's book and really works on his fitness so he is able to play in as many events as possible. He already has the Rafa hustle going for him.
