I expect him to die on court, just like the bull he is, the deserved rest for the champion of champions, family life? A bull? No, if he is out of duty he might even eat his children, he must be put down once the show is over

I reckon it’ll just be organic. Either he’ll win big and then retire or injury will force him. He’ll announce it right away. Then he’ll have a goodbye ceremony at the Barcelona tournament.

It will not be big. He will probably make the announcement after a tournamnent, whether he wins or loses. Either after RG, Wimbledon or Olympics in 2024.
I just don't see Nadal going big for his retirement. It'll probably be a small announcement, with no official celebration like the one we got for Rog.

The Laver Cup, 2024, Berlin: reigning Olympic and French Open champion Rafael Nadal is scheduled to play 3 retirement doubles matches, one with record-holding 27-time grand slam champion Novak Djokovic, another with 1-time grand slam champion Carlos Alcaraz, and one with Roger Federer, a former tennis player. He gets injured beforehand and doesn't play a match (his final match therefore being a 6-3, 7-6, 6-0 defeat to Taylor Fritz at the US Open), but there is a nice ceremony. Sam Smith sings some songs while Nadal and Federer hold hands. Nadal announces the inception of his golf career the following day. He goes on to win multiple majors.

I said I didn't think there was a ton of warmth--and that goes both ways.
Rafa is really patriotic. Spaniards are notoriously that way, very machismo and prideful about their flag, monarchy, etc.
I think he would feel a little funny about retiring in France as opposed to Spain.
Also, that's in early summer...I doubt he will do that. Gotta be end of year.
And yeah that statue is weird. If I were him, I wouldn't be super flattered..."Just put my name on the stadium, no?"

He strikes me as someone who doesn’t really relish the limelight as much as Fed or Novak.
He’s mostly straightforward and clear emotionally. I love that about him.

Rafa has always liked to play in front of a big crowd, his fans give him energy. He always thanks fans for supporting him. He won't retire (in 5+ years) silently.

The worst thing that can happen to him is to be injured for a whole year and then retire suddenly like Fed did.
Fed stayed for too long, and i have a feeling Rafa will do the same.
