What Kind Of Socks Do You Wear?

I was reading the spring gear guide in Tennis mag and saw they had a little thing about socks. Just wondering if you guys wear specific socks for sports or just the same ones that you would wear with your street clothes...

I like the ones that have more elastic around the arch, because mine is so high, it supports it nicely. But I like my pink Nikes and RL pom pom ones.

Teal socks like Gaudio if TW ever carries them

I used to play with old fashioned high socks, but those were just annoying because they would always fall down. I now play with high socks that are some pertentage spandex (or other such material) so they stay up.

Yeah I always double up on socks, doesn't matter what brand as long as they are athletic, but I've been known to wear those knee high soccer socks to throw my opponents off... with shin guards.

I normally wear some Hanes or...hmm...I took off my slipper and looked for the name, but it isn't printed on the sock...I think they're Wilsons...anyway when I get my new racquet pretty soon, I'll probably buy some new socks from TW since I'm getting new shoes also :)

I used to wear Thorlos but they were too slippery and I kept jamming my toes into the front of my shoes. They are both slippery at the bottom, and due to the thick cushioning which caused too much movement of my foot, like standing on Jello. Now I wear cheaper, thinner, generic, mostly acrylic socks which seem to work better for me.

3 pairs? That not nearly enough for me since I play several times a week. I need at least 30 pairs or else I'll have to do my laundry every week, and I HATE doing laundry! :(

Just kidding. I'm actually between brands of socks right now. They must be A) thin B) can't have a large seem at the toe, nor can it be right across the front C) loose in the toe area, but not baggy D) ankle high, not low cut or calf high.

Yeah, I'm REALLY picky when it comes to my socks. I won't even mention the fact that my shoe laces have to be the same lenth on each side prior to tying and that the loops and ends must all 4 be the same length after tying. Oops

Eurosock- they are pretty well padded.

I also have doubled up some cheaper socks and that seems to work pretty well too.

I will have to try some thorlos at some point.

I've been trying on long knee high socks lately. It really binds your thighs and foot, but I like that feelnig. Sort of like when you wear a wrist band, but for your foot.

Under Armour no-show socks, usually in white, but occasionally black if it's a little cooler outside. It's not like anyone can tell the color anyway.

any nike sock is good for me... or any knee sock. during school matches for varsity i wear red knee socks to match our school color and my babolat PC team racquets.

I hope Meg reads this and pipes in here...I personaly think RED is far worse than black.

Aces, dude, that is repulsive. No one wants to see your nasty red socks on a hot day because all anyone is going to think is, how gross and sweaty your hair legs must be underneath them. Nike = good / Knee socks = death

It doesn't matter how much school spirt you have, get red wristbands, send the red socks to me, and I will dispose of them. k thanks.

I think I forgot a IMHO here. hehe.

I am *VERY* particular about my socks before a match. My routine: I go to my dresser, open the sock drawer, pick out 2 white ones. Do they match? Good. Do they have holes in them? No. KEEPER!

lol i wear a red wristband/ red headband too... if you guys think the red socks are sick you should see our whole team LOL... we are cardinals so we dress in red... maybe the red is the reason we keep winning, disgusting the other team :)

We're the Blue Devils but I don't feel the need to make myself uncomfortable by wearing knee socks when it's eighty degrees.

oh not in 80 degree heat... heck no, i'm talking earlier in the season when it is still windy and around 40/50 degrees no more then 55. I wear my usual nike socks, red, when it gets that hot. in fact its ok to go shirtless in our league when it gets tooooo hot.

Heeyyy Meg.... seeing as I haven't been able to get up to NY with Exile for our visit to your house and the tennis courts...

My number one choice of socks would have to be... Pure Black Socks with a neat little Nike Swoosh in the center. Over a pair of extrathick generic brand socks of course, it's all about the comfort.

y doesnt ny 1 lyke toe sox? they really r actually comfy. knee high makes em sweetness. wear a rainbow pair and distract ur opponent.

Ew man, Ew. To maintain my sanity, flat, please type to at least HINT that you'r literate.

Fishuuu those socks need to die.

Socks, designer or non, never cost too much.

Isn't that the truth?! :) There's nothing like a new pair of socks.

I like quarter crews - but not too high. Too high ='s geek. Too low... no go. The thicker the better.

i played a mixed doubles match once where the opposing girl wore thin knee highs w/ a skirt and polo shirt. that was...how should i put it....very distracting to say the least. wow.

anyhow, i prefer ankle or low cut socks to minimize the tan line.
