I prefer more vocals, less screaming, unless the band has a good sound, which the offspring has nothing that stands out in my mind.
Switchfoot is not bad, the voice kind of makes me sleepytheir entire album has the same sound signature which ISN'T a bad thing, but their tunes don't do anything for me especially good.
3doors down = some good, even great songs, but again don't really do anything for me
Killers = cool band, haven't listened to them enough, but catchy
Coldplay is classic, always liked them.
Never heard of grinspoon.. interesting
3 days grace = i like a few of their songs, but they're a fatiguing listen.
Never liked U2 for some reason, and for some people... there goes my credibility ;D
The Gorillaz are way cool, they've got a good sound that keeps the foot tappin'

Speaking of Sonic Youth, their first album, Sonic Youth, is due to be rereleased on March 21st, and I'm really excited for that.
As for music I'm listening to now, I've just discovered the wonderful indie-pop-rock band Architecture in Helsinki- their music is really bright, and I'd recommend it to anyone.
