ok - some links pls... and like I said, if you are 3.0-3.5 you can't tell the difference of the levels above you.

now, don't give me another one of those "let me get back to you", or 'my records were deleted".

Give it up. I'm not at all obligated to give my name and location out over the internet just to satisfy you. This isn't about my playing level. I've never claimed to be an amazing player like you have.

You called me a 3.0, I know I'm above that, so your opinion doesn't bother me. If you really believe you're above 4.0, you shouldn't be affected by my estimate.

closer to 4.5 would be my guess. the slim kid is fast and moves well to the ball...oh to be a buck fifty again. :(

b you are right.... I mis-spoke earlier...

1-stars in general are strong 4.0 to mid 4.5, considering he is 6-1 vs other 1-stars, solid 4.5 is fair.

I think this kid is a case of 'stroke better than game'... the video actually showed some deep incoming balls he handled well, and the serve looks better than the couple of 2-stars I have battled against... perhaps something is lacking in mental toughness or just experience... who knows.

his game is not big enough to hit thru the other 2-stars, so he has to have some real fighting spirit to grind out some wins... but the other 1-stars may have too many technical flaws to trouble him.

I'd guess 4.5 - 5.0. I think anything below 5.5 looks bad in the eyes of most viewers. And that player isn't 5.5 yet, IMHO. Also does not look like the smoothest natural athlete - so that's going to hurt his performance in match play..

you took it out of context... I already said, with enough incentive, I will play.

Yeah, the "I'll play if you guys pay for me or take up online gambling" excuse is totally legit. Get real, man.

Done arguing with you. Either show me that you're a 5.0 (or whatever you believe) by playing a tournament, or accept that my opinion differs from yours.

Isn't this guy going to play Div. I tennis for Siena? Seems like a 5.5+ to me.

possible for a weak Div I program.

weeks ago I watched Princeton vs. Penn.... both are solid programs, but nothing exceptional in the NCAA world... if you look thru the Princeton roster, it's mostly filled with 4,5-stars or blue chips on the TRN.

LOL, Siena....now that brings back some memories. My freshman year our college tennis team (D3) finished 4-17. One of the team's 4 wins was while on spring break in Hilton Head against Siena.

Perhaps they have a better tennis program than in the past, but it would be hard to believe they are very good, even if they compete at the D1 level.

You two old cronies need to stop bickering. Or take it to PM.

Seriously.

Nobody gives a damn what you think each other's arbitrary NTRP levels are.

I totally agree. Just tough not to respond when someone frequently brings you up or tries to start an argument with you in other threads. Especially when your posts have nothing to do with him.

Ravi Yegya-Rahman was NJ high school state singles champion a couple years ago and Cryan Open runner-up last summer and he struggles to even make the lineup at Princeton.

Hunter, it was a test, to see if you have the mental focus when there are distractions.

I will give you another test in a few days.

I want to say 5.0, but I'm not sure his serve is big enough to compete there.
I don't think that juniors who play at about a 4.0 level would get any stars, or there would be hundreds of thousands of recruits with stars.

4.0 do not move like that and have no consistency of this guy.
I would say a strong 4.5 to weak 5.0. Probably a strong 4.5 but can easily get up in the 5's soon...

both NTRP and stars are result based.... while the kid does show good form in the video (an edited one, mind you), his result doesn't speak volume with 0-6 against 2 stars.. but 6-1 vs. 1 stars does put him in the solid 4.5 level.

until he can grind some wins from 2-stars, it will be a stretch to give him a 5.0

^ Not sure if that's a joke or not, but it looks like normal speed to me. How does that look too fast?

I'm sorry, I just find it hard to believe that he can produce that ball speed with his conservative technique. Also when I watch videos of pros hitting they hit with the same or even less pace. I may be seeing things but that's just what I believe. I don't mean to offend Devilito and by any means appreciate him providing videos to see some good hitting.

There was an issue a while ago that came up on these boards about some videos seeming to be sped up for some viewers. Seems to be a youtube quirk - not something done by the person who uploaded it.
Video looked normal to me.

based on the first video (didn't read the whole thread) I would say he is a 4.5-5.0. good looking strokes.

but we need to see how he handles hard shots till we can say how good he really is. many are good when hitting slow balls but hitting against bombs is the real test. just like in baseball. in BP many look good. but the difference between BP and games is that game pitchers throw harder. much more difficult to hit fast balls then BP pitches.

he is getting fed very slow balls which makes it easy. but still looks very good.
