What PS85 is this?

Hey folks,

I'm considering buying this Pro Staff from Dutch *bay. However, I'm not really sure what type it is. Most likely an Asian version, sadly.. after having received some pictures from the guy. I'm also thinking that it could be a fake (black butt cap?!). Anyway, if you guys can help me out, I'd be really glad.

Here are some pictures. If you guys think some other parts of the racquet are vital to define its type, I can ask the guy for more pics. Cheers.

Looks like a china to me - and you shouldn't be so down about it. I use this version. Also, Federer grew up and up until a couple years back still used this version

oh, and it looks real
 
is this a 85 head size? the 1st picture looked big to me, maybe a 95?

and it is a china version. the current TW china ones have black buttcap just like that.

from the pics I've seen, this is not the version Federer used. Federer used 1 that didn't have 6.0 on it. They're different
 
Federer used the China version which indeed had "6.0" on it after the "ProStaff".

You must be thinking of Sampras' St. Vincents which did not have the "6.0" after the "PRO STAFF".
 
Man, if that's a fake, I'd buy it... for the simple fact they did such an awesome job reproducing it! :)

It's definitely not fake. Are you bidding or buying it outright?

How much are they going for on the dutch bay?

BTW, which Wimbledon did Federer play with the PS85?
 
BTW, when did the PS85 stop using the Fairway leather grip?

I notice it states to use Fairway grips on the throat. I thought the China version used a Wilson leather grip.

Federer switched to a PS 6.0 85 with the red HPS 6.0 95 Tour paintjob at the beginning of 2002, so any Wimbledons he played before then he used the retail PS 6.0 85, including the one against Sampras in 2001.

My estimate is that they switched from Fairway to Wilson leather grips around 2001 or so. China versions have been produced since 1994.

They only have the 95 in grip size 4 1/2, which won't be available until 2/14/08.

i'm guessing the 2001 wimbledon and his emotion on the above pics is when he beat pete sampras in 5 sets

BP, note that he lives in Holland, if he order at TW he has to pay 40 $ shipping + customs (dont know in Holland but here they are not sweet)

Yes, I noticed that, but I wonder how much shipping is from the seller on the auction site? Also, getting one from TW he can be assured that it's absolutely brand new and authentic and won't have any cracks or anything like that. I guess it depends on what the winning bid turns out to be. ;)

Yes, TW gets restocked with both the PS 6.0 85 and 95 evey few months but they always sell out pretty quickly. It looks like TW will receive its next shipment of both in February. TW gets them specially made for them by Wilson.
