Probably because he hooked you.

9-0 in his last 3.5 season making it to sectionals. He's been playing with 4.0/4.5s during his time off. I feel pretty comfortable standing on this limb.
He had a 3.5C years ago. Even if it's within the three year window it is just a reflection of where he was not where he is now. I just don't understand sandbagging and why anyone would want to do it.
As a reference point, what % of your opponents would you say were sandbagging?
What about the fact that A) USTA didn't bump him after the 9-0 season; and B) he appealed and was rejected?
Say what you want, but I just gotta have it... no matter what it takes...Seems timely. Oldie but a goodie.

No idea - I have no connection or insight into that team or its members.7 years later is it a surprise their #1 guy in the 3rd place match is a 3.5A? As is another guy that played for n the semifinal match.
My thoughts exactly! If only I could go back 10 years or so to when I self-rated... unfortunately I would have needed to self-rate 3.0 minimum, but that still would have worked to get me those National titles that I so richly deserve!Totally screwed up my self rating questionnaire. Could've been playing 2.5 Mixed.

I just liked the banner since I didn't know there even was a 2.5 Mixed division!
I always thought mixed numbering was for example 8.0 where you could have 3.5 + 4.5, 4.0 + 4.0, etc.
So 2.5 mixed is ???
Whatever it is, it seems to be the title one could most aspire to!
There is such a thing as a 2.0 ?!?Sadly 2.5 is a thing to ensure it's two 2.5s paired together instead of sandbagging to 2.0 to play with a 3.0
It is on the scale and I've seen players self-rated as 2.0s, but never a year-end rating of 2.0. Mind you, some players have dynamic ratings I estimate to be in the range for a 2.0, I just don't think the USTA ever gives out a 2.0C regardless of it being merited or not. There is such a thing as a 2.0 ?!?
