What should I get?

I sent in my 4.3's and Nike sent me a voucher. What shoes should I get? New Lunars, Vapors, or Cages? Which shoe is the most comfortable, which is the most durable, which is the best all around? Thanks.

You should get the 4.3. It is the best of the choices given.

He can't. The voucher is good for the Nike website only, and they no longer have the 4.3s.

Comfort is really based on you foot. I tried the Vapors, and immediately sold my pair as my foot fell asleep in them. Have not used the new Lunars, so can't comment on them, but I did like the 4.3s.

My favorite are the Max Cages. I usually wear a 10.5, but 10s in the Max Cages fit perfectly. No break in, moderate durability (3-4 months).

Whichever you choose, I'd recommend getting them from the Nike clearance section, as you have $140 to spend, and you can get a pair of Max Cages for $70, and then spend another $70 on clothing:

Yeah, that's a pretty smart choice McLovin! but that specific cage colorway is ehhh... but getting to spend the other $70 on clothes is a plus.

Huh. They had the orange colorway up the other day for $70 also:

They must have run out. I have found that they update the clearance section regularly, and items that were out of a certain size or color do get restocked even though they are on clearance.

You should still get the 4.3s, but from a different site.

Spent the money on something else: grips, strings, w/e.

I got some nice teal 4.3s from M id w e s s p o r ts at $80, now they have only the light green ones it seems:

Use the "Search" on their site to find the Ballistecs.

If durability is the main concern, get a pair of Cages. But it will fit significantly wider than the 4.3s. If not, go to your local sports shop, try either Nike shoes and ask for the one that pleased you the most.

I don't see why he should change, when his regular shoe is still around at USD85.

My recent experiments, trying to vary from CB 4.3 have been abysmal:

1. Asics GR5 gave me pains in the balls of my feet and toes:

Metatarsalgia (apparently has happened to other heavy posters here, with the same model)

2. Barricades 8 (with that almost complete clay court pattern) jam my toes. Original B5 felt clunky.

3. Cheaper Asiscs are just that and suitable at the most for walking (although I've just ordered the Asics Gel Challenger 9, which looks like mid pack, not entry level- it remains to be seen how it performs on the court).

4. Vapor 9 are flimsy and at the best suitable for clay.

^It's a Nike voucher. He has to use it on Nike.com. That's why he's asking; otherwise I think he would've got a 4.3 for all we care.

How much did you originally purchase your 4.3s for?

If you're asking to see how much of a voucher he gets, his original purchase price is irrelevant. Nike sends you the voucher for the MSRP, which I believe was ~ $130, regardless of purchase price. I've done this 3 times now, and have received a voucher for $115, when I paid ~ $60 for my Air Max Cages.

If I understand Fintft correctly, he's suggesting the voucher can be used for something else, then buy a pair of new 4.3s on clearance for ~ $85.

The only way that works, though, is if you need new clothes/accessories, and they have stuff you want at Nike.com.

It actually makes sense if there's something else you want, since any shoes you buy w/ the voucher cannot be warrantied.

Nice, to say the least :D

I've also just received a Nike Voucher for my returned 4.3's. I loved my Court Ballistic 4.3.

The current choices on Nike.com are really disappointing.

Thanks for the information, guys. I recently bought a new pair of teal 4.3s and I'm thinking I'll just get cages and gear. How significant is the fit difference between cages and 4.3s?

Different enough to notice immediately. The Cages are significantly wider... but not shorter/longer.

Do you know how the much less durable the Vapors are compared to 4.3s? I really like the look of the 9.5s.
The Vapors melt on court. Period. If you are used to get the warranty out of your 4.3s, then the V9.5 are not worth talking about. However they are very comfortable shoes and have other qualities. Just not durability unfortunately, even for a lightweight shoe.

Max cages are terrible. Bubble will burst almost instantly. The tread wears away very quickly too. I've worn gel resolutions 1, 3 and 5. Nike 4.3 and Max cages. Max cage lasted barely 3 months. Terrible shoe. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The problem with them is that the upper loses shape quickly but the tread is quite narrow, so your feet will be sliding around and over the bottom.

^Never had any problems with them. I've got flatter feet though. I agree they're not for everyone, but they served me well. Not as well as my Raptors, but decent enough.

I agree w/ Lukhas. I'm on my 4th pair of Max Cages, and while I admit that the sole is only good for 3-4 months, that does not concern me so long as Nike continues to honor the 6 month guarantee.

For my foot, these are one the best fitting shoes, right next to the Asics GR4s (have not tried the GR5s yet). While I've read about the bubble bursting for some people, I personally have not had that issue. And believe me when I say 'graceful' has never even been considered when describing my on-court movement.

I'd like to try Lotto & Diadora, but right now I see no reason as the Max Cages fit perfectly, and I've got 3 pairs in the queue from warranty claims.

Cages. Great colors and comfortable shoe. Plus going into summer tennis it breaths well...oh and it too has a warranty.

Win/win.

My feet are like a perfect fit for 4.3s, are the Cages gonna be too roomy?
I don't know. Most likely yes but I can't swear it. Different feet for different people. I for example could wear indifferently 4.3s and Cages without any issues. How about you go at your local sports store and try them?

I say get the lunars and then sell it on the bay... I personally don't know how nike shoes are like, but I just bought some vapors and lunars so I'm excited to know!
