Hmmm - I actually have / wear the exact same two shoes, and my Vapor 9's I get at 9.5 (my regular size) but the Asics I got at size 9. I've gone down 1/2 size when buying Asics Gel Res 3's, 4's, 5's and the Speed Solutions.

My foot is normal width, so maybe if your foot is wider then the Asics at your regular size might be good, but otherwise I would think about going down 1/2 size.

He'll 90% be fine with his normal size. Even TW's sizing info says that they fit the same. Every foot is different (and like you for some ppl sizing will be different), but no need to worry him after he's ordered as it'll most likely be an 8.5 for him in both shoes. (I also own GR5s and V9s).

BTW, Peter, out of curiosity which shoe do you prefer between the GR5 and V9? They are both great shoes for non-HC use, they feel like running shoes but with much better lateral stability.

I too confirm that they should fit the same as nikes.

I usually wear size 9 barricades, i've work court ballistecs size 9 for 2 weeks (borrowed a friends on vacation), and i now wear GR5 in size 9.

I've tried on the GR5 in size 8.5 just to test it but found it too tight in the front. You made the right choice ordering the same size in nikes.

I do know the GR4's and GR5's sizing are different though.

You're probably right about the .5 size difference - I think he'll be fine with either size. And the more I think about it I think the V9's for me in 9.5 are just a tad long. Not long enough for me to go down to a size 9 but enough for there to be a difference.

I think I like the GR5 a bit more. It's mostly to do with the front/toe box fit. I find the support and cushioning in the toe box to be better in the GR5's. For me the V9's feel a bit 'flat footed' in the front. However, I do like the look of the V9's more (in the more classic colorways) so that's why I get those from time to time too.

I think from a pure comfort and lightness level I like the Speed Solutions the best though. However because I drag my toe I tear through them in no time... where the GR5's and V9's have much better protection for the toe dragging.
