What size grips do the Pros use

Common on the men's side is L4s, L3s are close. There are of course a few using L2s, L5s. Rarely do you see bigger than an L5, Jim Thomas and Karim Alami are two that use monsterously huge grips. On the Women's side, it is of course different, L3 and L2 rule the roost, L4s you see on occasion. Then of course you have the odd ones, taking say L4 or L3 handles and just wrapping an overwrap or two on them and nothing else.

thomas martinez, have you gotten any of my emails concerning the Cat7? I haven't been able to reach you.

I have one of his racquets. He is using a 4 with a leather grip and a tourna.

I may be wrong, but I pretty sure I heard that he used an L3 because he liked his grips really small.
Ok.

BTW, could you post some pictures of his racquet?

I can't believe how small the grips are that the ATP pros uses It flies in the face of the advice given to the rest of us. I use a 5/8 grip with an overgrip, and it's the right size according to conventional advice, and I'm not a real big guy. I guess the pros use little grips to ehnanc their racquet speed.

right now, i play with a 4 1/2 grip. its the right size according to everyone for me, but it feels a bit bulky. im probly going to go down to 3/8 with my next racquet though. i think it allows me to have more control over the racquet though.

i'm in the same boat as you are bcaz, i use a 4 5/8 which is the right size for me by the method on tennis warehouse and i'm not huge either. i don't understand why the pros are using such small grips, if i use a smaller grip it seems like the racket is always twisting in my hand, and really it just feels uncomfortable.

The reason pro's and high level players use small grips is because it is easier to pronate your wrist on the serve for more racket head speed...... and your grip should not slip if you use a good overgrip.

See I have the opposite problem. The larger the grip size, the more slippage & arm problems I've had. I've gone from a 4 1/2 to a 4 1/8 grip & in the past 10 years I've never had arm problems, my serve & spin has improved & I've never once had grip slippage.
