I played a set yesterday with a guy that I just met on one of the tennis meet-up websites. I have been studying for the bar exam so I have not had a lot of time to play recently and was expecting to be pretty rusty, and I was. My backhand and forehand were both pretty shaky, but something unexpected happened.

Let me preface this with the fact that I am pretty tall and have a really big serve to begin with; however, I have to admit it has never been the most consistent.

But anyways, in three different games I was down 15-40 or love-40 and was able to hit multiple huge first serves in a row to get back in and eventually win the game. It was a very close set that I won 6-4. Again, serving for the match I hit 6 first serves in in a row to close it out (after getting broken at 5-3).

The moral of the story is that it feels pretty cool when something like that happens. I am sure Roddick and Federer and many of you out there get that feeling all the time, but it was my first time.

Yes this is bragging, but it doesn't mean much to my fiance when I tell her about it (not really into tennis), but I wanted to tell someone.

What are your experiences with this?

Once i was playing a doubles tournament in my club and the other team were a bunch of *****s hitting moonballs and cheating linecalls.
I was so pissed that i was serving down 0-40 and made 5 aces into the T.
I only played for about 3 weeks. It felt awesome because we won that match.

Yeah doesn't happen much but when it does, it's a great feeling. When serving to close a set, I often get too conservative with my serve and go down love-30, then I get pissed at myself for being a chicken ( yes like safina) and bring the heat (still not that hot though- unfortunately)- sometimes I come up aces, sometimes come up craps but ALWAYS feel better for trying.

Understand the need to share/ brag- As sympathetic tennis players, we're here for you even if your fiance is not :)

hahaha no one around to tell so let it out to those tennis strangers on the internet.

when you have a short upswing in your first serve consistency and its the difference in the game its always good.

last time it happened to me was a few weeks ago. my friend i play against is very good at returning my best serves but when i get enough of those in he cant return them all into play. i can only take sets from him when i am serving well.
