What to cross with a very spin friendly textured poly?

Hi,

I am wondering what is the best string material and best string to cross with a very spin friendly textured poly in the main. I recently got Solinco Tour Bite 17 and Yonex Poly Tour Spin to try out. I got two of each so I can try a full bed and a hybrid. That being said, I am not sure whether I should be using a cheap synthetic gut, a more expensive multi, or a smooth soft poly like the the Yonex Poly Tour Pro. I would like to know what are the pros/cons of each and some good recommendations. I would like to optimize for spin since I am left handed and want people to struggle with the spin of a left handed forehand.

Thanks!

Cross it with the same string, but drop tension another 7 lbs.
Typical 98 sized racket, tension range from 42-47, depending on # of strings and your feel preferences.

either that or use a smooth polyester in the crosses (ideally less soft than the mains string).

I second the smooth poly. I've tried a few different textured strings in a full bed and didn't feel they gave me good spin. I was using Silverstring as a cross since it holds tension well and is a bit stiffer, but now I'm starting to use Tourna Black Zone and really like it. I'll be crossing Spiky Black Shark with it.

I just think the strings slide better when the crosses are smooth and hence, deliver more spin.

Why less soft? IF I use a smooth poly, should I still drop the tension? I am thinking that Wilson Ripspin or Tourna Big Hitter Blue are some that would fit the bill?

Why bother with smooth poly?
STBite 16 at 47 lbs gives great spin, doesn't notch at all, and even after 80 hours of play, seems as good as the brother racket with less than 3 hours of play.

If you want lots of spin than used a very smooth and slippery copoly, soft if you that's what you want. There's lots to choose from. If you want a little more comfort and not as much spin, then used Monogut ZX. If you want something cheap and are willing to give up spin, then use Gosen OG Sheep Micro 18. Forget everything else. Multis are useless in the crosses with copoly mains, IMHO. If the crosses aren't slippery than forget about copoly mains.

18g? In crosses?
I had been using 16g OGSM as my "standard" cross until a few months ago. But it seems like 18g would not work as well for spin and durability as a cross.

less soft because the softer string notches in a hybrid and notches in the crosses inconvenience playability more than notches in the mains. Wilson Ripspin sounds like a good choice. I find low friction crosses to work better though IME. http://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/COFreporter.php
Check out the string friction database (link above) and try a smooth polyester string in the crosses that has a low coefficient of friction and that suits your liking.
