I think serve and volley players were the ones Pete could loses to.

But I read on here that people think nadal and Djokovic and Borg would beat sampras head to head.

What do you guys think?

That's a very well put question...

Regarding Borg, there was a thread which matched him with Sampras on hard courts, clay courts and grass... I reasoned Borg would virtually have a 1-0 head start from the clay, and picked him to snatch 1/2 on grass or hard more often than not....

Hadn't thought of it in the terms you've put it, which is right on the money. Baseliners didn't trouble Sampras much, it was more the net rushers (not that they fared overly well either).

Nadal and Djokovic both have things that make them a better match for Sampras than Agassi was. Both I believe would return Sampras better. Agassi's 'kill or die' style returning of Sampras mostly didn't work. Both Nadal and Djokovic (and Borg for that matter) were probably better at just getting the ball back in play.

All three are also a hell of a lot faster than Agassi, which means Sampras would have a harder time killing the point.

On Sampras' return, Nadal would trebly do to Sampras what he did to Federer most of the time - annihilate his backhand with that monster leftie forehand.

It looks to me like Borg, Nadal and Djokovic would do better against Sampras than Agassi did. Agassi was 14-20. 3 matches his way (which seems to equate with "would do better than Agassi did") and its 17-17...

There are a lot of ways to look at it... but my gut level reaction is, Sampras would lead ALL of them head to head (he wouldn't be playing them on clay because he wouldn't reach them in a tournament, of course... that's a whole other story)

Djokovic and Sampras would be interesting. Best to best on hardcourts its close, I could see that surface being an even split in matches, maybe slight lead for Novak. Grass, edge to Pete. Clay, well edge to Novak but I think Pete would miss several of their appointed dates on dirt so I don't know if its a worthwhile edge to have. I could see this Head to head being an almost dead even split, but given the fact that their are way more hardcourts on tour than Grass, if Novak got the edge, he keeps it especially if any clay court matches worked their way into the equation.

Borg and Rafa, Pete could probably edge them out in H2H largely because he likely wouldn't meet them often on clay.

I think it depends on the surface. I would pick Sampras against them on grass, carpet and fast hard courts.
