Was Novak being up a break in the 5th and then basically giving the break away at 7-7 also a choke?

2011 SF was a choke for instance, I have to agree. Hit numerous easy errors after the 1st match point. But not 2019 F.

not a choke. Agassi raised his level and Medvedev's dipped to some extent, but Med didn't start playing bad or error prone or nervous.

I don't see W19 as a choke ... it was a close match that went down to wire. It just so happened that Fed got broken at crucial time, it happens. The fact that he kept his cool afterwards and still made it tiebreak after losing that crucial game is proof of his mental strength.
Zverev at USO20 and Coria at RG04 is a better example of a choke.

It obviously hurts more because he did have the match points, but it is weird how he gets all the blame for this massive choke when he only got into that position because Novak let himself get broken at a crucial stage and was fortunate that he had been serving first that set. Novak breaking him in the 40-15 game was merely evening the score from the previous game.

no first serves from 40-15. 3 mediocre TBs (horrendous by his standards in general, beyond horrendous by his Wimbledon standards). approach shot not good enough.
Nothing like Coria-Gaudio and Zverev-Thiem, but still a choke.

not sure if it classified as a good "choke", but Zverev's performance was the most disappointing for sure. To drop your level so bad that you could not beat a guy on one leg

We can’t truly call Fed’s 2019 W a choke since Nole came up with clutch shots when he needed them (ditto for USO 2011, which was more of a tailspin than Wimbledon).

He does suck in those matches and there is no excusing it, but I don't think it's a choke. They're just better on the big points more of the time in those matches

Coria choke was closer to Thiem\Zverev, scaredy cats afraid of winning the first slam. In no way it can be compared to the greatness of a stage choke like Fed/Djoker.

Perhaps we should look at these matches as missed opportunities or ones that slipped away instead of choking.
