I liked it a lot. That's beautiful love story instead of tragedy. That's how I look at the movie. When Jack was tied to a pole with handcuff in a jail room in the ship, Rose came to rescue him but there was no key to open his handcuff. She came out to find anything to cut off his handcuff. Water was rushing in and already reaching her waist line. She could run away to save her life but she continues to find something to cut off Jack's handcuff. She was determined to save him even if she dies on the way. That is true love. I wept when I watched it in the theater.

I cried when she was leaving Jack but then she jumped back onboard and they ran to each other and she said you jump I jump right, I love that bit now, then I also cried when Jack died at the end and she said she'd never let go of that promise, then she didn't!! Pure love!!

    Saw The Apartment again.

Surprised at all the Polish names. Even The Shop Around the Corner had a bunch of Polish or European names.

@stringertom perhaps you could throw some light on this. or @Midaso240 ??

The Shop Around The Corner was set in Hungary, you xenophobic pretentious snob! Jimmy Stewart wasn't Mr. Smith going to Washington.

As for The Apartment, Baxter and Sheldrake and Olsen and Kirkeby and McDougall are not Polish surnames. NYC was a melting pot in 1960 so there are bound to be lots of ethnic backgrounds to be portrayed. "Shut up and deal!"

Reminds me of the romantic comedy You Got Mail's Shop Around The Corner [Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan)] versus Fox Books [Joe Fox (Tom Hanks)].

Billy WIlder, who directed "The Apartment," was born in Austria-Hungary and a number of his family members died in concentration camps in Poland.

I think the general perception, which I agree with, is that he CAN'T act but appears in some of the films anyway. At least Hitchcock had the sense to just walk across the set and not open his mouth.

Its a sorta cheaply made Indy movie, good dirty fun & nice bundle of gore & silliness.

In theatres now, Korean film about intrigue, revenge and sex, much of it slow and sometimes tedious but beautifully filmed, builds to a rewarding finish. Some vivid sex scenes involving......well, let's leave it at that.

The Girl On The Train, it's really good, I recommend everyone go see it. ;)

Also Secret Life Of Pets, even though everyone thinks it's a kids movie it's also watchable for adults too I quite liked it some parts were very funny!!
If you like Disney movies you'll like it!! :)

I'd agree with you on this.
I definitely want to check out The Girl On The Train. I doubt I'll catch it in theaters so I have to wait for it to come out on Blu Ray. I also think that Secret Life Of Pets looks really cute too. There are some really amusing parts in the trailer.

    Watched The Counterfeiters last night.

Shirley MacLaine's character was Fran Kubelik and that's a Czech surname. Her boyfriend was Karl Matuschka, possibly a Polish surname. The character played by Ray Walston was Joe Dobisch, probably a German surname.

Secret life of Pets was fun to watch. I like most of Disney/Pixar films. I am waiting for my exam finished in next month, then I will spend a lot of time in tennis courts and movies. The first movie I will watch is Finding Dori. I wanted to go to see the movie with my date but it didn't happen.

I wanted to see Finding Dori, my sister went with her two kids and it was really good, so when it comes onto DVD I'll probably watch it then!
I'm going to the movies again in the next week or two to watch Hacksaw Ridge which I saw the trailer for looked really good, it's a true story war movie! Then I wanna see Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them...which is kinda do with Harry Potter but before his time!! :)

The Matrix meets General Hospital. Visually dazzling, Cumberbatch brings some humor to the role, good fun.

'Nocturnal Animals'. I can see why it's getting a fair amount of praise. Ford blends French noir with sophisticated American thriller and I think the combination works well.

Saw Doctor Strange. It was silly- even stupid, but well done for what it was- a comic book, mindless 2 hrs of entertainment.

Oh, I forgot, I also saw Bell Book and Candle. I saw it when it first came out (that's how old I am) and my memory was that it was a better film. James Stewart, I believe, was the reason it didn't really click. He did not make a convincing love interest. Watched it Halloween night.

Watched Anthropoid on Blu Ray on Saturday night. It's a true story about the operation of the same name carried out by members of the Czech Resistance during WWII. I really enjoyed it and look forward to watching the bonus features about the making of the film. I think these stories are important and am happy to see Hollywood making these types of films.
